Ht & oc

I have a i7 860, and I mostly use the computer for gaming, graphic design, general use, etc...

I was wondering if hyper threading was even worth it, I run some small instances of sql also, but they're more for tickering and I only allow them to use minimal resources.

Also, is there a point to OC'n the 860, I've heard it doesn't OC as well as the 920 and that'll most likely be my next chip.

HT is very useful in Graphic design. What kind of cooler do you have? The 860 should be able to hit 4Ghz easily with a great cooler

I know it's a lower end one, so I should probably buy a high end cooler for it and then HT and OC?

You will have to find out yourself whether you need HT or not. It's likely you don't but then again you'll never know

If you don't need it then switch it of to higher your OC'ability and lower your temps. It packs quite a lot of heat depending on the usage. But it will always add heat even if you dont need it!

OC'ers will tell you your OC doesn't count if you have HT disabled but who cares. It's your system, not theirs
