Android is better with HTC as an option, but these results still seem dissapointing.

Another y/o/y revenue drop with slight profitability only possible by cutting marketing expenses. Honestly with as good as the M7 and M8 are, I wonder if their margins are significantly slimmer compared to the S5 or other flagships.

They had to be, afterall they are better built.
I had one HTC device (Rezound) , I was impressed with overall hardware specs and features. But support was so poor (one Android upgrade in 2 yrs, never on latest OS) that I would never consider them again.

Yeah unfortunately their track record is terrible so I understand your decision.

But clearly they're trying to fix it starting last year. Just look at the M7, we got probably five updates in the past year (from 4.1.2 all the way to 4.4.2, plus two Sense updates from 5 to 5.5 to 6), and now 4.4.4 is coming in the next few weeks, and Android 'L' publicly promised immediately after it was announced. Not even Samsung can say that.

I actually felt bad when I switched to Samsung (didn't help that I quickly started to hate the phone that I had bought). Glad to see them starting to do well.

The M8 is the only phone I'm considering ahead of the upcoming X+1. HTC is batting 1000 over the last year IMHO.

The Rezound was a Verizon exclusive. :/
Verizon has a nasty habit of screwing over phone updates, from most manufacturers.

The One m7 has been exemplary for updates, 3 major upgrades in the US since launch; Android 4.3/Sense 5.0, to Android 4.4.2/Sense 5.5, to 4.4.2/Sense 6. Really have to give them credit for that, and its a major reason why the m8 is highest on my list to replace my m7. Unless Motorola's X sequel really wows me, I'll be getting an m8.

Also unlocked bootloaders and able to convert to GPe if you wanted to.

I've been thoroughly impressed with HTC. As my first Android device (second to my wife's S3) and being a convert from an iPhone 5. My M7 has been a treat.

I'm glad they are bouncing back, and I've been eying down the M8 for some time now.

I have the M8. It's a great phone. The camera is actually better than I expected. Also, manufacturer suport for bootloader unlocking. This is what caused me to return the SGS 5 I bought. As much as I appreciate the work of hackers like Geohot, ideally I, as the customer should be the one who is in control of this.

Good to see them returning to profitability. Their offerings have been a lot better than the sales would have lead people to believe.

Good for them. I still use HTC Sensation 4G and even though it had been a pain in the rear sometimes, it still works great with non cracked screen after taking some really bad falls.
