HTC Caught using Nokia developed MICs?

I found this very interesting if true. This is not patent trolling if you read what happened. If you want a One might want to get is ASAP incase they have to pull them until they find a new MIC to put in them.

So? It still could've been STM selling this component and its features. HTC may not have been the wiser as to who actually owned it, only assuming it was STM since they manufactured it. an OEM can't be bothered to check the IP of every component they buy. It's not their job.

They can still be held legally accountable for it though. If HTC truly had no idea, it's less likely that they'll face a large amount of financial burden in the end, but it's still going to be a legal pain for them to deal with. If there were an isolated incident, it would probably be settled rather quickly and easily, but because it's just one more part of a series of ongoing legal actions between the companies, it probably won't be.

Looks like HTC did not know and can sell phones out there but have to find a new MIC to produce any more phones. Samsung looks like the biggest winner in all of this.

HTC could do that, but they'll have to survive whatever Nokia decides to dish out to them first, then counter sue ST Microelectronics for any potential lost revenue.

Another delay on new HTC One phones worldwide could be enough to sink HTC.
Nokia doesn't even have to do anything at this point.
Luckily for HTC though, this only affects Netherlands. There's nothing stopping Nokia from expanding this claim to all territories however by filing new claims in those respective countries.

Yikes I though taking my HTC Radar apart was bad. You would think making the screen an easy swap would be the #1 design concern for everyone involved.

HTC tells us that Nokia's attempts to institute a recall of the One failed; since the products were purchased in good faith, the ruling states that HTC can continue to use microphones that are in its inventory. Despite having a history rich in manufacturing delays, we're told that this legal ruling will have no effect on the One's availability.

Seems like good news for HTC. I'm not sure HTC's finances could handle an injunction against their flagship product.
