It's easier to install a ROM on Samsung, but you got spoiled in ROMs because of Qualcomm. If Samsung uses Exynos, you're fvcked. Look at i9100 and i9300 dev. It's been horrible.
HTC was too cheap to advertise themselves. Now they're trying to advertise but good luck with that. Samsung spends crazy amounts on ads. Now you have LG and Sony in the game too.
You guys have no idea how much it costs to advertise like Samsung does. Samsung has HUGE amounts of capital from their other cash-flush ventures. If they wanted to start making toasters, you better bet you'd be seeing Android toaster commercials on TV everywhere. This is true. Marketing and branding are pivotal. HTC is a joke in that regard. I have never seen an HTC commercial in my lifetime.

HTC, however, is a TINY company compared to Samsung. Comparing the two in terms of resources is laughable.
I worked for Lenovo for a while, arguably the HTC of the PC world until late, and you didn't see Lenovo TV ads for a long time because it is *expensive*
i've had no issues with the droid DNA, and i actually enjoyed the thunderbolt except for the battery issues heh

An astonishing $11B spent on marketing by Samsung. The others don't even come close. HTC can't compete with that war chest.

i just hope htc makes the next nexus.
Yup.EVO 4G LTE got the JB update quite a while ago so me thinks ATT is at fault.
Not going to happen anytime soon as long as the HTC and Apple agreement is in full force.i just hope htc makes the next nexus.
The new HTC One is a nice piece of hardware.
If it only had a removable battery, SD slot, ran stock Jellybean and was offered on all carriers it would be the phone to buy, hands down.

I think you're going to see more and more phones deep six the removable battery simply so they can use a larger battery while keeping a svelte phone. Removing the SD card lets them do two things, prevent the stupid from sticking a slow card and complaining about lag, and make massive profit margins on tiers of internal NAND.
HTC should, however, stop making custom phones for all carriers. Keep the One, with only radio changes. Offer it as 'This is our phone, its awesome. We will not be making a custom version just for you.'
I agree it shouldn't be too hard for them either. I doubt the carriers want only Apple and Samsung to be the major players in the hardware business in a few years. It would give them even more control than they already have. Especially Samsung since at least in theory other companies can compete with them on Android phones.
...
I think the HTC One has a lot more potential. That 64 GB model needs to be available in the States. (Especially because of no SD card slot.) SIV will have the advantage yet again with marketing but the HTC One will be available at Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile, which is a good first step.
Well it certainly didn't help their phones were missing removable batteries and microSD slot.
why do people care so much about SD card slot
why do people care so much about SD card slot, I'll never understand. How hard is it to adapt and utilize home and cloud storage using blutooth, wifi, LTE and HSPA+.
If one travels a ton, learn to juggle between phone, tablet and laptop. It's really easy.
To those who "must" have 20,000 songs on their phone....I am speechless. I only carry flac files with me and 16 gig is plenty for myself.
