Did you guys here about the HTC one plus one lol? Apparently it's made in taiwan, different screen but same quality, no extra logo, and costs $400 off contract as opposed to $600 for the m8.

Chinese knockoff:

Enter OnePlus, a new China-based company that’s getting ready to launch a CyanogenMod-based smartphone called OnePlus One. According to OnePlus, its own One is better than HTC’s M8, because it has a 5.5 inch display with Content-adaptive backlight control (CABC) technology, a six-lens 13MP rear camera, a 3,100 mAh battery, and “no extra logo on front.” Moreover, an unlocked OnePlus One will cost less than $400, while HTC’s new One is priced at $600 - $650 off contract.

Of course, while the OnePlus One looks good on paper, there’s a big problem with it: at the moment, this handset does not exist from a buyer’s point of view. We don't know what it looks like, and it’s not even announced - its official presentation will take place on April 23.

I have the HTC One and I'm tempted getting the M8... the camera on my One is broken though (purple hue on everything, I can forget about pictures). And while the phone lasts me through the day, if I happen to be back only the next day, the battery is dead before I'm back... Also the button backlight is broken. The USB port is rather clunky too, it's sometimes hard to plug it in (and a friend of mine had her port burn down!)

I really love the size, weight and how the One feels in my hand. And apparently the M8 feels even better (I'm gonna check it out in a store).

But, the camera is the same on the M8, so that worries me a lot. Battery size is bigger, but it's still only 2600mAh. I see the USB port is the same too... The buttons are on screen now, so that problem is gone.

I was thinking about the Sony Xperia Z2 this round. But I don't know if the battery will last longer than the M8 (even though it's 3200mAh). Reports saying the phone feels awkward in the hand, which I would absolutely hate :/ Camera also not the best, even though it's 20MP. But I really like how the phone looks like, the charging ports look really nice (I won't have to plug in through USB) and the shape looks nice in general.

So what do you guys think? Will Anand review the Z2? He did the One M8 and he almost convinced me to get it If he would review the Z2, I would have a direct comparison in battery life, camera and usability in general and it would be a lot easier for me to make up my mind.

Also, will the Z2 last longer and have a better camera than the One M8?

I don't think Anand will be reviewing the Z2 since it's not available in the US through any major carrier and this is still a US-centric review site. Too bad as it seems like a very good phone, albeit quite large.

Picked up my Verizon M8 a couple days ago, and am generally pleased with it except for one thing. My Samsung Bluetooth earpiece and my Motorola Roadster Bluetooth car device will not work with this phone. Both will pair OK but when I go to make or take a call with either device I get a display on the phone that says the following: "Not a System App: Illegal Installation". Any ideas from any one?

Bluetooth update is being released today. Should fix the issue.

Installed the 122 MB Verizon update last night - the problem with the Bluetooth still exists. I guess I'll pay a visit to the Verizon Store and see what they can tell me. If they can't, I guess the phone gets returned.

Just completed a live online chat with an HTC Rep, but basically the answer from them was that some BT devices will work with this phone and others won't. Guess I have to purchase another BT device and try it. Note: the phone does connect to my Philips Model SHB400 stereo headphone without issue.

Gonna pick up the JABRA DRIVE car Bluetooth device this afternoon at Staples and I'll post later this evening if that device will work for me. Off to the cemetery and then to Staples and finally a bite at Olive Garden. Later..........

Pleased to report that the JABRA DRIVE car BT device that I picked up today pairs and works with the phone. I made and received a call and both parties could not tell that I was on a BT device. Super nice Easter Sunday here, clear, slightly breezy and nearly 70 degrees. Great meal and service at Olive Garden too. All the best to everyone today and everyday.

Yea that is odd that some bluetooth devices aren't compatible even though it should be universal. Does your car have BT integration? Mine does since it came with it and it seems like every phone I had connected to the car without issues and music streaming also works flawlessly.

I wish my car did have integrated BT, but none the less, I have been using "hands free" devices in my cars since the early 90s. My last three BT units prior to the JABRA were Motorola units. Can't say that they all weren't problem free, but they usually get the job done. Nice to hear the you have had a smooth ride with the car's built in system. I would think that would be the case since I'm certain that more research, and much better equipment and testing goes into the factory installed systems. I recently had a VW Passat as a rental and was impressed with the built in system.

I think the phone would be a no buy if it didn't work in the car. My car didn't have anything special just a CD player and BT was what came with my lancer gts edition. It also has a usb port in the glove box for music but I'm not sure if it works with my m7. When I had an iPhone it didn't read music off that phone either. Although I don't think the iPhone streamed music through Bluetooth though. I haven't touched the usb port since it requires opening the glove box and digging all the way back into it. Worst place in my opinion to put a usb audio port.

I spent a couple of days considering about returning the phone, however, in the end, I decided that I will get much more use from the phone vs the BT device, so I elected to find a BT device that I could live with rather than go to a phone that would work but that I might not get the preferred enjoyment from. I friend of mines wife got a warning ticket in Maryland last week for cell phone use. So I'm going to try the Roadster device in her car since she will be traveling thru Maryland during the foreseeable future. She just got the Galaxy S4, so we'll see how that pairing works out.

I just ordered my HTC One m8 today and will have it in my hands tomorrow. I can't wait as i'm coming from my old HTC Rezound that was awesome back when i got it, but has become so slow and battery life was never good with it.

For you yes it will be quite the upgrade but for me I'm rocking the m7 with a custom Rom and kernel and its smooth. Only reason I would upgrade is if I wanted the bigger screen and sd card slot which right now is not an issue for me.

I couldn't agree more. If i currently had a Galaxy S4, HTC One M7, or any other phones in that class i wouldn't be upgrading either. But my 2yr. renewal is up and these new phones are phenomenal compared to my ancient Rezound.

FYI I found a nice case at a great price that is arriving at my residence on Wed. Also comes in Black and also Red. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IGUUKRE/..._M3T1_ST1_dp_1

never understood buying a phone that looks as nice as the one & covering it up with something like that, but to each their own looks like it offers a lot of protection.

I used a devilcase aluminum bumper with my m7 - i wonder if they'll come out with something for the m8 too.

Some people are freaked out about damaging the phone or screen. It comes in handy if you ever need to sell the phone later. I have a silver soft bumper case on my m7 since it rarely leaves the desk or my pocket.
