Did you guys here about the HTC one plus one lol? Apparently it's made in taiwan, different screen but same quality, no extra logo, and costs $400 off contract as opposed to $600 for the m8.
Enter OnePlus, a new China-based company thats getting ready to launch a CyanogenMod-based smartphone called OnePlus One. According to OnePlus, its own One is better than HTCs M8, because it has a 5.5 inch display with Content-adaptive backlight control (CABC) technology, a six-lens 13MP rear camera, a 3,100 mAh battery, and no extra logo on front. Moreover, an unlocked OnePlus One will cost less than $400, while HTCs new One is priced at $600 - $650 off contract.
Of course, while the OnePlus One looks good on paper, theres a big problem with it: at the moment, this handset does not exist from a buyers point of view. We don't know what it looks like, and its not even announced - its official presentation will take place on April 23.
Chinese knockoff
I have the HTC One and I'm tempted getting the M8... the camera on my One is broken though (purple hue on everything, I can forget about pictures). And while the phone lasts me through the day, if I happen to be back only the next day, the battery is dead before I'm back... Also the button backlight is broken. The USB port is rather clunky too, it's sometimes hard to plug it in (and a friend of mine had her port burn down!)
I really love the size, weight and how the One feels in my hand. And apparently the M8 feels even better (I'm gonna check it out in a store).
But, the camera is the same on the M8, so that worries me a lot. Battery size is bigger, but it's still only 2600mAh. I see the USB port is the same too... The buttons are on screen now, so that problem is gone.
I was thinking about the Sony Xperia Z2 this round. But I don't know if the battery will last longer than the M8 (even though it's 3200mAh). Reports saying the phone feels awkward in the hand, which I would absolutely hate :/ Camera also not the best, even though it's 20MP. But I really like how the phone looks like, the charging ports look really nice (I won't have to plug in through USB) and the shape looks nice in general.
So what do you guys think? Will Anand review the Z2? He did the One M8 and he almost convinced me to get it If he would review the Z2, I would have a direct comparison in battery life, camera and usability in general and it would be a lot easier for me to make up my mind.
Also, will the Z2 last longer and have a better camera than the One M8?
Picked up my Verizon M8 a couple days ago, and am generally pleased with it except for one thing. My Samsung Bluetooth earpiece and my Motorola Roadster Bluetooth car device will not work with this phone. Both will pair OK but when I go to make or take a call with either device I get a display on the phone that says the following: "Not a System App: Illegal Installation". Any ideas from any one?
Thanks, Fritzo, for sure. I gather it is HTC that is releasing the fix?
Pleased to report that the JABRA DRIVE car BT device that I picked up today pairs and works with the phone. I made and received a call and both parties could not tell that I was on a BT device. Super nice Easter Sunday here, clear, slightly breezy and nearly 70 degrees. Great meal and service at Olive Garden too. All the best to everyone today and everyday.
I just ordered my HTC One m8 today and will have it in my hands tomorrow. I can't wait as i'm coming from my old HTC Rezound that was awesome back when i got it, but has become so slow and battery life was never good with it.
For you yes it will be quite the upgrade but for me I'm rocking the m7 with a custom Rom and kernel and its smooth. Only reason I would upgrade is if I wanted the bigger screen and sd card slot which right now is not an issue for me.
FYI I found a nice case at a great price that is arriving at my residence on Wed. Also comes in Black and also Red. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IGUUKRE/..._M3T1_ST1_dp_1
