Yup there is an m8 gpe edition if you don't like sense.

I think CM works on it too, but truthfully there are so many better ROMS out there.

And the GPe edition does have some of the advanced Camera stuff and better sound. Plus much of the HTC stuff can be installed via the play store.

I have to say, a few weeks in I am loving this M8. I basically planned to tolerate it when I got it until my next upgrade, but it really feels like an upgrade over the S4. I love how much better and louder sound is across the board. I love how the touchscreen is more responsive than any other Android device I have ever used. I love how now that I Mr. Cleaned the camera I get good pictures of my dogs indoors.

Yea I have an m7 and when the m8 was out I wanted to get it but was worried about root. But now I'll be getting the nexus 6 and if that doesn't work with me I'll definitely try and get a gpe or developer edition m8 on Verizon. Plus I love the front facing speakers. Not only that but its a very solid and stylish phone.

I'm using Bonestock ROM, it's completely OEM w/ the Harmon Kardon and Boomsound enhancements, and hotspot turned on. Very smooth and bug free. Looking forward to the 5.0 release (currently on 4.4.4)

20-40% left at the end of my normal days. That is compared to my S4 which on average BARELY would make it through a day, often not.
