HTC One M9 hype thread

It's amusing that people would call those videos fake. Short of HTC purposefully shooting clips to throw people off the scent, this is what you'll see on Sunday.

It would be REALLY disappointing if that is what the M9 looks like...and I am optimistic that it won't. IIRC HTC already said they are trying to throw people off the scent.

Yeah it doesn't make any sense. I feel we'll be getting the same old One this year.

I hate to harp on the same thing over and over but the HTC blackbar is the most useless waste of space.
I forgave them the first year because the M7 was a gorgeous phone and that blackbar did have a back and home button.
The M8 I thought was a small step down as I thought the M7 was better looking and that useless space was really useless.
I really really thought by the 3rd year that HTC would for sure get rid of that space.
If its still there on the M9, the execs at HTC got to be blind, dumb and ignorance.

20MP on a 1/2" sensor and f/2.2 aperture seems a bit odd, especially for low light performance.

I really hope the M9 doesn't look like the same old M8, which actually I think looks worse than the M7.

That actually would be pretty nice - M8S with maybe the S805 (heck maybe even the S801), new camera, newest version of Sense and everything else the same. Sell it as a high mid-range phone.

M9 with new design language (2 year cadence like Apple) at full price.

Surprised that black bezel is still around. Power button on the right. Finally. I like what I'm seeing. Just think this phone was too heavy last year and that continues this year. I'm betting the S6 will be much lighter.

I think those videos are fake. I've owned all HTC phones up to the m7. They need to get rid of that bottom bezel. I went to the n6 because I was tired of sense. Hopefully when it is released it will look good but for now it just seems like a rehash of the m8.

Yea I already am and a few in my development group were also hoping for a different m9 style so they could decide between that or the nexus 6 although I'm more than happy with my n6.

Agree - while I still would have liked to see a bigger design update after 2 years, keeping the same design while dropping the black bar (or at least reducing it significantly) would probably have been ok. Not making any design change for 3 years is pretty surprising - even Apple fans are looking for something new after 2 years.

I wouldn't say there was no change. The One M8 was actually a pretty big step away from the M7, it just had a lot of familiar styling cues. Think of it like the iPhone 5 to the 4S... stylistically similar, but definitely not the same phone.

both the m8 and m7 have black bars because they are both metal phones. if there were no bars the metal would act as a faraday cage and you would get terrible reception. every iphone has them too and apple wanted to remove the bars but they couldn't. htc decided to integrate the bars into the edge of the display but unfortunately it has convinced people that they are just stupid and cant design a phone as this thread shows. so you can have no black bars, or you can have a full metal phone, but not both. that is why the note 4 and galaxy s models have no bars.
