Galaxy S III feels much cheaper and looks cheesy. The one thing I liked about the HTC was the unibody case which Anandtech praised in their review for feeling great in your hands.

I always ignore the spec junkies on these forums since I flash all my phones with custom ROMs to remove all bloat.

I was using a first gen dual core phone from early 2011 until last month with Cyanogen Mod and it was as smooth as butter.

I agreed.
When I handled the GS3 in store. It feels plasticky all over.
I would get the GS3 just because of the better brand name and hence better resale value but since the OneX is $80 cheaper, that would negate the resale value.

One X.
Better camera, better construction and most importantly better screen.

expendable memory should not be a concern since both phones are crap as portable music players, and who uses a phone to watch movie anyway? Get a tablet for movies on the go.

2gb vs 1gb? You won't know the difference.

touchwiz vs sense? both are crap so you are stuck either way.

Smartphones are perfectly fine as music players for the overwhelming majority of people. Having that expandable storage is a nice option, it certainly beats not having it at all.

Carrying around a tablet is way more annoying than watching on a smaller screen. I have no issues watching movies on my Nexus, anything smaller though (like the iPhone 4) and it does start to feel too cramped to me.

You may not notice the difference between 1GB and 2GB now, but in a year? Two years?

I personally think the storage issue is a problem if you want to store custom ROMs, Nandroid backups, and more importantly pictures and videos. With 1080p video now a standard, you will EAT UP space.

I ate up 16gb on my SGS2 pretty quickly. Once I separated my photos and videos onto my SD card it became more clear that I needed around 6-7gb for system stuff and apps and nandroids and ROMs on my internal memory. Leaving only 8-9gb for photos/videos wasn't enough. I didn't need a full 32gb, but at least offloading the media there helped me greatly.

I would get the SGS3 for

-More open
-2GB ram
-Expandable storage
-Removable battery
-I actually prefer the look of the SGS3

People get the One X main because of
-'better' screen
-'better' casing

The reasons to get the One X seems subjective, but if those reasons apply to you then go for it.

Go to a store and check both out so you know what you are dealing with.

I have a GNex, which has removable battery but no SD card.
I have the stock battery and it lasts me fine for my purposes so removable battery means nothing to me, YMMV.
He battery cover is flimsy plastic but I have a case over it so non issue.

The 16 gb onboard storage is barely half filled and most of it is with a bluray rip just to see how it will look. Most of my music is in the cloud or my iPod nano.

The pentile screen bothers me somewhat, probably more than other factors since its something you're looking at all the time.

So for $80 cheaper, its a no brainer to go with the phone with better screen and build quality.

the camera along with worth choosing OneX over GS3.
Let along the best screen out there and a saving of $80.

If 16gig is not enough then having a microSD is not going to be enough either. Use the cloud and consolidate files between harddrive, cloud and the phone.

People keep forgetting what a phone is for.
You don't need 2gig for current generation phones, in two years the GS3 will be horribly outdated anyway even with 2gig of ram.

As far as watching movies on a phone, sorry but I just prefer bigger screens. 4.8 inch does not cut it. I applaud those who use iPad, Nexus 7 on an airplane, and I laugh at those who use a phone. I'd rather save the battery of my phone to snap photos and answer calls.

I love the ever-more disjointed justifications from folks who bought the One X... And good luck fitting in-flight movies on a similarly cramped Nexus 7.

no I don't have an One X, nor a Nexus 7.

A flight from DCA to LAX is what? 5 hours? That would be maximum 2 movies plus 2 music albums? Assuming you don't need to rest before an important meeting and you like to isolate yourself form the rest of the World.

A flight from SEA to TPE is what? 12 hours. Most people sleep at least half of the flight anyway.

As far as lay-over and wait time. How about growing some balls and go talk to a pretty girl instead of watching a moving on your 4.8" screen to justify a $80 microSD slot?

Don't forget folks, if you have both tablet and a phone, you effectively doubled your storage without microSD.

Fact is, people don't need that much storage on the go. For some reason, people like to carry 500 music albums in the pocket, but never to listen to the music itself....

People can choose what works best for them as not all people have the same needs or will use it the same way. I never watch movies on my phone and simply have zero need or time to do so. If I'm going to travel and need to watch something on a portable device I have my iPad for that. I use my phone to call, text, email, browse the web, and listen to music and that is it. And for 4 out of the 6 things I listed the superior screen on the One X is enough to keep me on it. To each his own and it should make no difference to anyone what device someone chooses and for what reasons as long as that person is happy in the end.

I use my phone primarily as an MP3 player and a web browser. I don't have unlimited data so local storage is a must, I would easily exceed 3GB each month if I streamed all of my music.

Different needs for different folks but the expandable storage alone is the reason I would choose SGS3 over One X.

hey don't get me wrong. I love both phones, but imho the One X just makes more sense due to the price, screen and camera along.

But that isn't even what you were arguing. You were basically name calling.

Anyway,

Price: No one can argue the One X is better on price

Screen: Subjective. Some people like the larger and more color-saturated SGS3 screen, while others prefer non-amoled One X screen. I recommend OP go to a store and check them out.

Camera: Isn't SGS3's camera better? That is what I read in reviews.

You could aregue HDR might be better on the GS3, but as a whole, the One X has a better camera.

off topic:
btw, when did I "name call" anyone? I certainly don't appreciate the uncalled for hostility.
My argument: One X is the better choice. I don't know how much more consistent I can be LOL

Sources? The ones I saw said differently. Although both are probably good enough for most users.

Lol you were the one being hostile

you like to isolate yourself form the rest of the World.

[grow] some balls

Anyway enough of this. OP probably has heard all the useful information he'll get. I hope you check them out in person, OP.

Where is the OneX for $120 at?

EDIT: Found it on Amazon. Can't keep my "unlimited" data through Amazon.

I read camera on SGS3 is better. But I'm sure you can find opposite reviews. Both are good enough.

One X piss poor multitasking is deal killer for me. 1gb ram is clearly not enough with Sense bloat.
HTC calls their broken multitasking to be a feature.
If I recall correctly, this is what made QueBert(of all people) return the phone for a Galaxy Note despite him preaching AMOLED hate everyday.

Like I said, I don't even put any multimedia on my phone, but 16gb is NOT ENOUGH simply because I need space for:

1) Apps
2) ROM downloads (let's say I keep 2-3 nightlies JUST IN CASE one is bad... throw in custom kernels that's 500mb minimum)
3) Photos, videos that you take. 1080p video takes a lot of space
4) NAndroid backups. 1 of stock, 1 recent backup. That's over 1gb.

Yeah, there's not much space left.

Furthermore with carrier badnwidth restrictions, we kinda NEED to put some stuff on our phone and not rely 100% on streaming.

I'm not someone who will watch a movie on my phone, but I'd like that option to put some music on it if one day my iPod fries.... So maybe not 500 albums, but at least 10 albums? That would require at least 1gb I'm guessing...

The multitasking did kill it for me, and I did get a Note, but I sold it today and will be putting some $$$ out of my pocket and pick up an iPhone 4 tomorrow.

Multitasking on the One X is a joke, the screen on the Note sucks balls. It's scary that there are like 100 different Android handsets out there and every single one has a deal breaking bad point for me. Too bad Samsung didn't make the Note with an SLCD+ screen like the One X, then I would have absolutely kept it. And it's not like I'm asking for a lot, I want 64 gigs of storage and a non fucking AMOLED screen. Apparently on AT&T that's not possible if you're on Android, oh well...

I own the One X, and played with the SGS3.

I vote for the One X.

You have to realize you are picking between the two BEST phones on the market and its really up to how you use your phone. Neither is a bad choice.

If you want mega big storage then the SGS3 with its SD card slot will fulfill your needs much better. Myself, I tire of music fairly quickly so I swap music in and out anyways so its capacity is plenty (180 kbps for music ).

Just as a lot of other people have said; the HOX screen is AMAZING! The Samsungs unit is still pentile, although it is hardly noticeable due to the pixel density I could definitely tell in the store.

Lastly, as for the removable battery.. IF you travel a lot then a newTRENT battery from amazon is much better than a second battery anyways.

Dont kid yourself, the SG3 screen is pretty substandard if you ask me.

Heck just take it out on the sun and go from there. And the whole color-saturated thing is a non issue when compare to the HOX since SLCD2 had pretty good color that comes closer to AMOLED.

Can't you root the One X for better multi-tasking? Or is it permanently screwed?
