You have to remember that storage is more important in a phone than a tablet. Most people don't walk around snapping photos and taking video when they're out and about with a tablet, they use their phone. HD video really does eat up space.

Dont kid yourself, the SG3 screen is pretty substandard if you ask me.

Heck just take it out on the sun and go from there. And the whole color-saturated thing is a non issue when compare to the HOX since SLCD2 had pretty good color that comes closer to AMOLED.

Super AMOLED generally does well in slunlight in my experience.

It's seriously funny reading all of the people claim to be able to see the subpixels on the SGS3's display. Unless you have freakishly good vision you guys are just seeing what you want to see in order to validate your One X purchase.

If you plan on rooting your phone the SGS3 is the only choice, it doesn't have a locked bootloader and Samsung is much more developer friendly.

I just spent the last 45 minutes with both of these phones trying to decide which to buy. I'm going to have to disagree with you.

Anyone that says they can't see the difference between the One X and S3's screens needs to make an appointment with thier optometrist.

The S3's screen is noticeably grainer at a distance of about 20 inches. Text is more jagged and shading is noticeably grainy. Watching the same youtube video on both side by side was a joke. The S3 is muddled and grey, the One X was bright and vivid.

Overall, the design of the One X is heads and shoulders above the S3. It's a tighter package without sacrificing significat screen size. It's a more solid phone, with a more premium feel.

Plus, the base of my thumb on my palm consistently hits the menu button on the s3 when i go to tap somewhere on the screen. Way too close to the edge.

Your mind thinks it sees things when you're looking for it.

And your eyes can differentiated between a good screen and a great screen. Are you going to tell me bro in law's dad who has a Pioneer Elite plasma screen that it's not better than a Sony XBR? I could say the same thing you said for people who claim they can't tell the difference between the One X & SGS3 screen's.

Then everyone should think the S3's screen is grainy, because you've all read the comments and now you're all thinking it and you're going to all be looking for it which means it will be true.

Seriously, I tried everything I could to go in with a blank slate but it's just downright obvious, especially if you're holding the two side by side.

I certainly saw a difference when browsing text, but the difference did not seem as pronounced when I turned on youtube. I actually thought the darker colors were better on the S3. Didn't see much pixelation. But then, all I watched were Epic Meal Time in HD and a few high def cartoon videos.

Check this video out, you can pretty clearly see the difference in the screens once she gets to the side by side comparison at 0:44 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbMUA-lFHGQ&feature=player_embedded

The only difference in that video is that the One X is brighter.

The GS3 is very aggressive with the auto brightness. Personally I think it's a fantastic device, and a huge upgrade from anything 1+ year old.

Just a note, I turned auto-brightness off, maximum brightness on both in store, and also turned off the GS3's adjust screen tone based on video or whatever.

You're not in a position to talk about being able to see differences in screens since you've shown in the past that your observations of screens are in direct conflict with reality.

Compared to the One X the S3 has better contrast, blacks, response times, and viewing angles. Neither has perfectly accurate whites out of the box but Samsung phones have calibration options built in as well as tools on the market while the One X does not so the S3 wins there as well.

OP, you might want to also now consider the Atrix HD. same specs as the One X, but has the MicroSD slot and still pretty good construction. I like the exclusion of capacitive buttons, but dislike the AT&T logo on the bottom (though it may be removable with a sugar cube).

I'm leaning more towards the Atrix HD now. The new version of Motoblur looks awesome and now that Google owns Motorola, I'm hoping for a quicker turn around on updates. At $99, it seems like a pretty good bargain on contract for a phone with the same processor and screen resolution of the S3 and One X. Even if you're looking at the OneX for $120, I think I still like the material the Atrix is made out of better compared to the OneX.

sorry folks, the pentile display is very noticable during a side-by-side comparison.

Both screens are excellent, but the One X screen is simply better. Yes the amoled has true blacks, but it fails at producing white. Some may say amoled has better contrast, but similarly it's over saturated. I know because I have 1 super amoled, and two super amoled+. They are great, but OneX has a better screen. A lot better? Absolutely not, especially if you look from a distance away. However at close inspection, like how most people use their phones, it's noticeable.

The Atrix HD definitely looks like a fantastic deal at the moment. I will definitely look into that one.

Get the OneX unless you like the double vision look on the SGS3's pentile screen

comparison of viewing angles is kinda silly, they both have nearly 180 degree viewing angles, so off angle that you will never have problems viewing the screen from any angle which is practical (who really looks at the phone screen at 178 degrees?)

I had the galaxy nexus briefly and now own the EVO 4G LTE, and I love the s-lcd, it is a great screen. In fact it seems unreal at times.

When I had the SGS3 in-hand I didn't think to check the viewing angles, but I know my SGS2 has more colorshift than my MotoDroid1 - the screen takes on a bluish tint from the sides rather than becoming faded.

Regardless of the screen differences the memory (1GB on the X vs. 2GB SG3) is the deal breaker. HTC must have deaf people as engineers as their mic response is laughable. It's impossible to record video with their phones that has intelligible audio, period. Perhaps a whisper but it would still sound tinny!

No SD card slot? Absolutely absurd! Makes no sense to take a step forward while taking 1 3/4 steps backward every time...

Sense 4 will give you gimped multi-tasking and there's not much you can do about it with AT&T's locked bootloader, you are getting screwed twice. The SGSIII gives you TouchWiz which resembles Gingerbread and will surely remove useful features like Google's improved voice search when they update to Jelly Bean in favor of Samsung's crappy S-Voice. You could at least put CyanogenMod on that phone if you felt like spending the time on that.

Or, if you must have AT&T, you can simply buy an iPhone for $200 on contract, sell it for about $500, profit $300, and use that money to get a Galaxy Nexus for essentially 50 bucks and enjoy Jelly Bean.

Reviews of the Atrix HD aren't terrible. Battery life is meh, screen isn't as good as the One X but it's still not pentile. Body design leaves a little to be desired. Camera is meh. Software seems to be a step up, especially compared to previous MotoBlur devices. Think the UI looks really nice, actually.

Best Buy has it for $50 on contract. Fantastic deal, IMO. Beats every other sub-$100 Android device AT&T offers. My only fear is that Motorola will turn around in three months and offer an Atrix HD MAXX with double the battery life. That would suck.
