This is exciting. It's like a whole new phone!

KK, good luck. It's working great for me. I hope your wife likes it.

Well it upgraded and seems to be quicker, atleast on power down and power up. It would take like 3-5 minutes to power up before, now it powers up in under 30 seconds. Guess the real test is tomorrow when she has to use it.

It was a fine phone at the time it just had poor battery life due to the combination of a first gen LTE radio and a regular sized battery. It was then and still is better than phones like the iPhone 4.

Wrong wrong wrong. I bought the Tbolt on launch and it was a huge mistake. I now own an iPhone4, 4S and GS3. I also had a Moto Droid1.

The iPhone4 was a better choice by far than a Tbolt. iPhone4 is still a good phone today. The Tbolt was bad on launch and is still a terrible phone. I severely regret buying it.

That's comparing the iPhone4 to the Tbolt, the 4S makes the Tbolt look even more pathetic, and was its direct competition.

There's simply no excuses for a lot of the bad Android devices. I like and use both, and consider myself unbiased.. and the unbiased view is that the Tbolt is a complete piece of shit, Sir.

I timed my old iPhone4 on iOS6.. cold boot in 22seconds to a usable state. HTC Tbolt before this 2013 ICS update: approaching 5 minutes to an unusable state (sluggish/hitching/pausing).

Death to HTC and death to the Thunderbolt. And death to the android devices that are pieces of crap.

In defense of your wife, honestly, shame on you for making your wife use a Thunderbolt. She's an angel if she doesn't deny you sex over it.
That said, I'm glad I didn't run my Tbolt over with my car as I planned when I got my GS3.

I noticed this too, much quicker in restarting.

Hey, I didn't pick out her phone, she did. If she'd had listened to me, she'd have just a regular flip phone. But no, I had to listen for the almost past 2 years about all her issues with it. It should be me denying her sex over this. But I tell you one thing, I'd divorce her in a heartbeat if she ever came home with an apple product.

I am also a fan of the regular candy bar phone. Much underrated for it's ability to 'just work'.
I assumed it was a hand me down.

Android 4.0 is a pretty reasonable baseline target to try and get old Android phones to. It's like the Windows 7 of Android. GB to ICS is a massive upgrade, ICS to JB is like going from Windows 7 to Win 7 SP1.

For the record it's pretty tough to tell the difference between the iOS that launched with the iPhone 3G and the latest iOS without looking very hard

Agreed with all, except if I'm not mistaken, iOS 4 brought about both background sync'ing and sync'ing over your home WiFi network, both of which were noticeable without having to go looking for them (or having a changelog box tell you).

No, Samsung stated that SGS1 class hardware didn't have the RAM/storage to run both TouchWiz and ICS, so ICS updates were scrapped. And there was much ranting.
Sounds about right. Although SGS1 runs AOSP ICS just fine. So really we can still blame Samsung

Anyone have performance feedback ? I'm a fan of being able to run Chrome, but overall, I would say ICS definately slowed things down ALOT ... hope I can hold out for the Motorolla X in May ... come on 3,000+mAH battery w/microSD !

I agree things are very slow now. A significant delay when selecting anything. However, it wasn't like this when I first upgraded. It may be time for me to move on lol.

I haven't had any issues like that specific to the Thunderbolt, but I find that every Android phone I own gets like that eventually. I feel like Android is still in the Windows 95 era, and needs to be reformated every once in a while...

If a fascinate or vibrant can run ICS just fine then there is no reason why the T bolt can't do it either. I'm sorry but I would take a T bolt over a iphone 4 any day of the week. The screen size and LTE seal the deal.
