Ive been trying to research both these phones to see if they work with the SERO plan. I would assume they do since it seems most or all HTC phones so far have. Id hate to give up my $30/month plan.

Which phone do you think will be better? I think im leaning more towards the Hero, but the TP2 looks nice as well. Release dates seem to be about a month apart from what i found.

I hate not having a physical keyboard so I'd go with the TP2. I've played with the TP2 a little bit and it's a great phone with a lot of awesome features but I haven't gotten to play with the Hero at all and don't know how good their version of the Android OS is but not having a keyboard would be more than enough to keep me away from it.

Go with which ever they let you have. I am betting the Tp2 will for two reasons, one it is available on pretty much every carrier, and second it is WM. The Hero may be a little trickier, its going to depend mainly on how many other carriers pick it up before/at the same time as Sprint.

But to answer the question, go with the TP. I spent a year with a Diamond and will never go back to a software keyboard. Now I am happily typing along on a BB Tour.

Hmm. I tried out the Touch Pro 2 for a few days and didn't really like it. The combination of Windows Mobile and a resistive touch screen just didn't do it for me. However, the screen is absolutely beautiful and the keyboard is awesome.

That said, I wouldn't be able to live without a physical keyboard, so the Hero is out for me. I love Android though - I've yet to find a phone (and I've tried plenty) that has a better combination of user interface (android) and hardware s the G1.

Touch Pro 2 for the keyboard, but I would love the breath of fresh air with Android. They would probably require us ol' skool SERO users to change plans to get the Android tho.

I think i could live with a touch screen and id love to give the android a try. I guess it depends if SERO is available on both or not. If they drop it because of Android then TP2 is the obvious choice for me. Damn SERO for being so good as to limit my choices LOL

I've not used either, but I was on a plane to Denmark last week and sat next to me was a guy from HTC. He was rocking a Touch Pro 2. He liked it enough, but his main complaints were bulk and Windows Mobile. Based upon this alone I'd say go with the Hero.

They had a big meeting last week and both of them are going to be fine for SERO. Evidently in the same day they went through both extremes. First they completely killed SERO by banning all phone upgrades and then a couple hours they changed and went back to the way it was, everything is fine but Instinct and Pre.

The Touch Pro 2 hands down. I've been using it since Thursday night and it's a night and day difference from the old Touch Pro 1 / Diamond. The screen is large. The interface is smooth as silk. The keyboard is fantastic - large keys and they're illuminated. Battery life is much better than the former model as well. If you get it on Sprint then it will come with a headphone jack. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Does the TP2 not have a 3.5mm jack?

T-Mobile / international version doesn't have one. The CDMA version does, from what I understand.

It for sure has a 3.5mm jack. Just plugged it into our computer speakers here at work.

One of the big pluses for the hero is that it will come with adobe flash lite. The TP2 hopefully will get it with the 6.5 windows mobile upgrade. Watching hulu on your phone would be awesome!!!!

I'd consider the Samsung Instinct Q. Not a huge Android fan, but a browser with flash would be slick, and a hardware keyboard is a must for me.

You'll never be able to watch hulu on your cell phone. The content providers won't allow it. They're already forcing Hulu to implement blocks, the same as with boxee.

My TP2 was just delivered at home, but I'm still stuck at work and can't play with it.
