I have 3. Each one has the tv hooked up to the computer and a Directv box. I'm not using any of them as a DVR.

The Panny in the Basement only has 2.1 speakers but the computer has Logitech Z5300's so I run the tv through the tuner to get surround sound when necessary (football, Nascar, movie night with the wife). This one is HD with an upconverting DVD player.

In the bedroom I moved my old 42in Panny EDTV when I got the new one for the basement. This also is hooked up to an old PC and I watch a lot of old tv shows off the hard drive. I could not get Directv to play nice with any media apps, so we just switch inputs between the dvd, tv, and pc. Once I get the wireless keyboard my wife will be surfing and playing Zuma from the bed. I bought an ATI 650 Pro and it's just sitting in this machine that's just sitting there.

Finally, I would not spend 20 minutes on the treadmill and home gym without entertainment so I bought a cheap 26in Olevia HDTV to hang on the wall and this is also hooked up to an old pc I scraped together.

I'm working on building a server space in a closet to house a rack server and then really want to hardwire all the rooms. Wireless just doesn't cut it. However, for now the bedroom has all the media on it since most of the content on the hard drive gets viewed while chilling at night.

I just have a Shuttle PC hooked up to my HD TV and use it to stream media only.

I use my cable companies HD DVR to record stuff, much easier.

How are the Olevia LCDs? I've heard good and bad about them, I don't need anything huge, we hae a 27" Sony CRT right now, something in the 36-42" range would be perfect for us, probably bigger than we need, and I've been eyeing some of those.

I would not buy it again. It was on sale for $400 online at Circuit City and I wanted to buy something before the money disappeared so I jumped on it.

The menu is severely lacking. Instead of many individual adjustments you get just a few. What they want you to do is pick "dark room" or "bright room" and be happy with the results. I am not. I only have SD in that room, but the picture looks like crap, and again I keep wanting to adjust the gamma or "picture" down and sharpen things up and you just can't.

I often wonder if it's just that the plasmas have a far superior picture, but I really think I just bought a crappy LCD. It suffices for an hour a day while exercising, but I would definitely buy a better tv next time even if it cost more money.

On the plus side it has plenty of connectors so I am able to hook up everything I need and even run audio back out via RCA cables.

Stupid question..

For TV to play HD-content, the TV needs the ability to display 720p/1080i/etc. What about for PC monitors? All I know is that my graphics card (7800 gt) has 2 DVI outputs. If the source can ouput hd-content, can my monitor (envision 17 inch - very old flat screen) play "hi-def"???

I used to dabble in HTPC's, but now I find it easier to just use my cable provided DVR. I still have my main computer connected to my HD TV via DVI to HDMI for playing downloaded media.

Your computer will play anything. But it will scale it to fit on the screen you're using.

Might not be the right place to ask, but I'm playing with SageTV right now, it works fine with my FusionHD 7 RT Gold card, but the remote doesn't seem to be listed. Anyone have this card and try it with SageTV, and if so what remote did you use for the settings?
