Thinking about converting one or more rooms in my new home to all Hue/wifi lighting. Where there is recessed/built in lighting already in place, my understanding is that with these systems you must keep any existing wall switches in the "on" position in order for the lights to function correctly. Assuming this is accurate, does it make sense/is it possible to remove existing switches, re-wire the junction to keep power to the recessed lighting always on, then cover with blank face plates? Any risk or reason not to do this? With Hue at least I know that the dimmer switches are magnetic so you could just stick them to the blank face plates.
My goal is to still have things work "normally" for folks that expect to use a wall switch while still getting all the benefit of program-ability, etc. It's kinda pointless to have wifi lighting if someone can make the connectivity useless by turning off an existing physical switch. Thanks for any tips on making this as seamless as possible.
