If you ordered a $2300 laptop 2 hours before this post, please raise your hand.

*raising hand*

Think I can call Dell and have them refund the money "lost" given these new coupons? I used a 10% off coupon, but could have used 20% off in my case. Maybe I can tack on the other $25 coupon too? I mean, if they don't let me, I could just cancel and re-order. But that would be a pain in the arse.

Please let me know or give other ideas. Thanks!

this is HOT! But what the heck happened to the P4 3.0 option for Inspiron 9100's? (only 2.8 and 3.2 are available). It suddenly disappeared these past few days.

Yes, simply cancel your order and re-order. It shouldn't be too late to cancel it. Worst case, if you have the credit order another with the discount right now and return the original one when you receive it.

They are huge - at least 20% is but at the time they away with many useful freebees (e.g. no more hdd upgrade or free CDRW for notebooks) - I may still order just a stripped notebook system

I'm looking to buy a Dell Dimension 4600 or Inspiron 600m/8600.

Since Oregon has 0% sales tax I'm wondering if I should wait for a hotter deal (through Dell SB)?

I ordered a 600m a week or so ago. Now the prices have dipped and they ditched the 64mb video option...

Why did the ditch the 64mb option? I was able to add it to the 600m I ordered yesterday...

Its gone as of today.

I am still waiting on them to ship me my 600m. They didn't have a travel ac/dc adapter so they ended up cancelling my order and reinputting screwing everything up. I since decided to get some quotes from IBM to see what they can offer on their T42 series.

Actually, I found the 64mb option again. You just have to build from scratch rather than editing a recommended solution. Once you click 'edit' on one of those systems, the type of video card is locked in for some reason.

They just put back the option.

Dell will honor any coupons promotional codes so long as they are valid -AND- you have not -RECEIVED- the product yet.

My father harassed Dell and got 3 offers worth of stuff since it kept changing, but he didn't receive it yet.

I don't know but this deal didn't seem like it was any hotter than the deals from the past couple of weeks. Like others are saying, sure they're giving you 20% off, but then you pay for a CD-RW and other things that end up maybe running $100-$200. If you buy a $1500 laptop then that's like 10-15% more you're paying for the PC now. So your 20% really isn't 20%... if you didn't/don't get in on this deal, don't worry... another variation of it will show up.

Coupon was to last through 06/02/04

As you point out this is only interesting on barebones systems(basic amount of memory, harddrive CD only), as upgrades are frequently free.

OTOH adding a docking station or extended warranty with 20% off is sweet

Well it is a desktop replacement...

I am hoping the Inspiron 600m I ordered is not too big for me and that is much smaller than the 9100...

you will be more than happy with the 600m. Thats what they issue here at work and i absolutly love the things.

Only downside is not with the laptop but the centrino is NOT leap compatible, even though they claim it is.

The 9100 is actually the first ever dell notebook that I returned. It was too big, too heavy, low battery life (1:00 - 1:20) and no docking solution (essential for a desktop replacement IMHO). Kudos to dell though for their easy return policy.

Too bad the 600m runs only with DDR266 not really a performance machine.
