The little animated preview thing Netflix has up makes it look fucking awful. I actually watched The Cobbler and it actually started surprisingly good but was terrible when it finally turned into a typical Sandler movie. Didn't bother to watch that other one and doubt I'll watch any more of his stuff.
Its not just Sandler either, Netflix produced stuff has largely been misses for me. Even the stuff that's well made just aren't interesting whenever I've watched them. There's a few (Jessica Jones comes to mind) that I am going to give a try, but I think season 1 of House of Cards is the only Netflix production I've really liked.
Happy Gilmore will always be my favourite Sandler movie.
This. I can even enjoy Billy Madison. And The Wedding Singer is fun as well although obviously incredibly cliched, but the 80s setting made up for it.
Reign Over Me was good, but the end came off rushed and blah. It made sense but it just wasn't well done, especially after they spent so much time doing a good job of slower character building early on. It was just like, oh right we need to finish this, uh....this happens, the end.
Punch Drunk Love was pretty good as well.
Bulletproof is another fun movie although it feels pretty dated and isn't a masterpiece.
The rest of his stuff is meh at best and plenty of times terrible.
