What sterling logic! Like the popular "make drugs legal to get rid of drug crimes" argument, you liberals continue to push the boundaries to whatever crime you want repealed. Of course if legalized prostitution would be like any other profession, just like if murder were legal it would be like any other profession. That doesnt mean it is right or that our society should strive to be "more like Las Vegas". Theres a reason why they call Amsterdam the new armpit of Europe.

How about instead of essentially blaming society for somehow authorizing human sales, you concentrate your considerable talents to keeping your sights where they should be - on the actual people breaking the actual law.

Whats wrong with looking into legalization? You can't be so sure that its the wrong move to make unless you are basing that on your own moral convictions. As a society we shouldn't have to placate your morals but should instead do whats best for the majority. I don't know what would be the correct asnwer in this case but I do know that putting blinders on and ignoring the situation is wrong.

Legalization has been looked into and tried - unless you consider Las Vegas and Amsterdam shining beacons of success, I think you can consider prostition a self-decaying profession without resorting to moral highgrounds or religios simple-mindedness.

Have you ever been to either Las Vegas or Amsterdam?

Of all the things that could go wrong with your kids, I think this one is the most horrific. Like most dictators, the slavers have to keep the girls / women uneducated and ignorant about their rights. What could be done to make it impossible for someone living in the US to do this?

Repeal the 4th amendment, as we've already mostly done.

i hope this is not a serious suggestion. if not you have clearly lost it.

These people are suffering, and you're trying to hide your sex toys from the police. No one needs complete privacy.

yes, we do. Freedom has a price, and some have to pay it so the rest of us can have it.

Definately the issue is underage trafficking. Not that trafficking of 18+ is OK, but...There is also a disparity with what underage actually IS. Gotta remember 18 is not the norm for much of the world.

And its a little OT, but if the filipina in the video is 18+ its a shame she was forced to give up her cherry for $80. She could have gotten $500 for it in many SE Asian countries, including her own. I know I know OT.

Legalizing prostitution would drive prices down, and would make some kinds of human trafficking unprofitable.

The same thing happened when prohibition was repealed. I'm sure illegal distilleries still operated afterward, but I don't see how they would remain profitable when alcohol is available legally/inexpensively at your local grocery store.

Im not convinced of that. Every place I know of where prostitution is legal it's more expensive than it's on-the-down-low counterpart. To say it will drop prices is speculation at best.

You people want to stop this? Really truly? Or is that just lip service to make yourselves sound sympathetic?

This could be ended tomorrow by legalizing prostitution. Once legalized, prostitution would be like any other profession. Customers could ask about it in the open without fear of persecution. It would fall under all types of employee protection laws. Prostitution is only dangerous because it's pushed underground and once there it joins all the other illegal vices as an avenue of crime.

Hey, remember when the government decided that alcohol was immoral and banned its consumption in the US? Remember what happened? That's right! Organized crime took off because they profited heavily from smuggling booze into the states. In fact their illegal gambling / drinking establishments allowed them to buy all the machine guns and weapons that they used to kill each other in cities like Chicago and New York.

Have you ever been to Amsterdam? I've been there a few times, I have a family friend who lives there. It's one of the safest cleanest cities I've seen.

sad that.

We saw a lot of this shit in Bosnia, truckloads coming from the east. I don't know what happened after we left the area but bribes and shit tend to fix most things for these arseholes.

Upon further reflection I retract my statement about cost. It's wrong for the most part.

I think state controlled brothels should be illegal, but this is forced prostitution with women and girls who never have a choice.

And that just isn't right.

Well the good news is laws worldwide have never been tougher in regards to human trafficking. The bad news is it doesnt put a dent in it. Trafficking kids and adults has been a profitable business for thousands of years, and legislation wont curb it. Unfortunately I think its just something that is, has been, and will be. Does that mean I dont think we shouldnt do anything about it? Not at all! The paradox is admitting theres nothing that will put a dent in it, thus admitting it is what it is, and being outraged and appauled by it at the same time. To get all self rightous and appauled by it wont change a thing. People of all ages get trafficked, and there isnt anything anyone can realistically can do about it.

Reality bites.

Humans are evil, and the purpose of life is to realize that life is not something a rational being should desire.
