I'm sure there is more looting than people realize at the moment, since entire neighborhoods are leaving to live with friends/families elsewhere as well as shelters. Friend of mine that lives more inside the city had water up to his ankles or so and they went to stay with their parents.... Apparently while they were gone looters came in and stole a ton of their stuff - taking their sweet time.
When people actually return home is when we will know the true damage.... I will say this - there is a reason why suburbs exist and are much safer. This is that reason - and it's the reason why the 'burbs will continue to exist and expand.
Reading Reddit earlier, and reports about looting are awful.
