This is going to be an interesting storm, that's for sure. As a major hurricane the winds and storm surge are bad enough, but hurricanes don't usually linger in the US. All of that rain presents a danger unlike anything else, and whatever happens, we're fortunate Harvey isn't heading for a more populated area.
In the meantime, the 4am update is posted. The Hurricane Hunters are working this one hard, to say the least.
The satellite presentation has improved during the past several hours with an intermittent eye feature surrounded by a ring of very deep convection. There are various cyclonically curved convective bands primarily to the north of the eye and the outflow is fair. NOAA and Air Force Hurricane Hunter planes penetrated the eye various times during the past several hours, and the most significant data were a flight-level peak wind of 103 knots, and a peak SFMR surface wind of 88 kt. The central pressure dropped to 967 mb. Based on these data, the initial intensity was adjusted upward to 90 kt. Another reconnaissance plane will be in the eye of Harvey shortly.

Devastating and life-threatening flooding is expected across the middle and upper Texas coast from heavy rainfall of 15 to 25 inches, with isolated amounts as high as 35 inches, from today through next Wednesday. Please refer to products from your local National Weather Service office and the NOAA Weather Prediction Center for more information on the flooding hazard.
105mph winds, expected to be 120mph at landfall. Nobody knows where this is going to be in a few days, only that it will get there slowly, so residents of major cities in Texas need to be wary.
Reported for mod callout.
That's the 2nd Harvey trying to rid these boards of Texan Republicans.
Too bad Trumpy Wumpy's wall isn't up or we could call this storm the Harvey Wall Banger.
Came for the wisecracks about Harvey-the-mod, and I am not leaving disappointed. I'm glad to see the two Harveys working together, getting what they desire.
