The creek was backflowing over the spillway into the retention pond.
We're up to 1.46 inches. The max gust here has only been 20 mph though. (that's 53.7 kilofurlongs per fortnight for our European friends)
The weird and worrying thing is our retention pond is connected to a creek which feeds the bay. The creek was backflowing over the spillway into the retention pond.
I think we're seeing storm surge pushing water into the bay.
Nope.Wow, that is not good.
I'm going by my weather station in my backyard. So take it with a grain of salt.Wow, that's strange. I was just outside with my dog and we had 35 mph gusts and sustained wind is 17 mph in the San Antonio area.

Although you guys are a bit closer to Harvey.

I like Galveston. Everyone feels right at home there. It has a nice home town feel.
Everyone should go to Galveston on a regular basis.
I go once every 20 years.
Anyone who talks carp about that place is a carp head.
WTF units!? :^D(that's 53.7 kilofurlongs per fortnight for our European friends)
As long as water doesnt flow their way...I've been to the area... I had an interview at an insurance company in League City once. They bragged that their data center could withstand a category 3 hurricane... I guess that they'll get to test that claim out this weekend.
Here's a fun fact: To get 1" of rain over 1 square mile requires over 17 million gallons of water. Anyone want to do the math on what it takes to dump 10-20" inches on half of Texas?
Something tells me this could eclipse Katrina as far as damage costs.
