I am from Taiwan. Typhoon/hurricane is not all that scary for me.
So far, this does not look like a Katrina type event. But that was the wind, now comes the massive flooding. I work with loans in flood zones, so I expect we will see come claims.

Harvey, you bastard!
Politicians don't like to spend money on non sexy infrastructure like storm drain. Public likes to see newly paved streets. This is what happens.
Katrina is really more about stupidity of building New Orleans.
I heard Harvey dropped nine inches on Victoria last night. Wonder what he's giving Alice tonight.
True. Lack of infrastructure spending and planning in the US is awful right now, especially given the size of this country. Katrina was a hard hit in any case, no amount of planning would have stopped all the damage.
Now getting rain banks in DFW:

Blame the French, and the stubbornness of people not wanting to move an established city further upriver. Not building below water level is usually a good start.

Last night, the Weather channel was showing the wildly different projected paths of 6 different computer models. Is it just me or has the storm kinda not gone in the direction they anticipated? Originally the path of the storm was to do a loop going towards houston and then going out to the gulf, but based on what I'm seeing it's almost like it's going towards San Antonio?
