Naples Update
Just got some good news from a neighbor that rode out the storm. She walked around our place and the only damage is a screen in one pane on the lanai that has come loose on two sides.
There are some trees down in the development and the water feature by the entrance has a little bit of water over the road. The highest wind speed recorded in the area was 137 mph.
Power is out. No surprise there. We now have to wait until the storm passes through the state before we can head back. We must also wait for gasoline to be distributed because I would imagine that those that left after us gobbled up what little was left. It was tough finding gas stations with gas on the way out. (A big thank you to GasBuddy)
The surge they are saying locally has broken up and should not be an issue but they are waiting until high tide coming up at 3AM before declaring the danger over. The surge is what had me most worried. It's hard to believe it could have reached in as far as us but what do I know about storm surge?
Some bullets were dodged.
I also heard second hand from some Marco Island residents that they came through pretty much unscathed. Trees down, power out. But they hadn't traveled around so damage could vary throughout the island.
