I knew that they would be in the front of the line to support the relief effort, and am glad to see the effort. If we could get all other major corporations to do this, that would only help the cause.

Also, seeing an 8 mile convoy of emergency vehicles waiting outside of NO to help out. I heard that L.A. Fire is represented out there, so i'm assuming that the western states are there to help out.

I received the information straight from police and people that came up to Shreveport from Red Stick. It isn't as rampant as NO by any means, but it is happening. Maybe you should get the facts straight before flaming a "n00b". Lack of posts doesn't make me less knowledgable than U. My fingers just aren't as sore.

Riots? Looting...in Baton Rouge? I live a couple blocks away from the River Center and I haven't heard/seen any of that.

Couple that with all of their stores which were looted in NO, it's probably closes to $25 million

Does anyone else feel the same way as I do about the amount of ass-kissing there seems to be with this presidential news conference? Give me a f**king break...if you've got some to say, just say it. It seems like every other sentence is chok-full of "Thank You, Mr. President" or "I'm proud to tell you, Mr. President". God damn, get to the point!

And why are they just telling him everything that we AlREADY KNOW??!! Get moving!

I received a call last night. A friend who is in the regular Army and was scheduled to leave for Iraq this month was informed that their entire unit has two days to get ready and will be moved out for deployment to New Orleans. They were informed they would remain in New Orleans for a minimum of 2-3 months. There is nothing yet in the news about this and I cannot provide any confirmation for you. Just thought I would share what info I have received.

I think it's natural that when one is dealing, in person, with the POTUS, one just tends to ass kiss. Even when Bush spoke about former POTUS Clinton, he ass kissed himself.

Those must be the same people that claimed that strip malls in Gonzales were looted, homes in the outskirts of BR (Baker, Zachary) were being ransacked and looted, people in state vehicles were being carjacked, etc.

Because of false reports, city/parish employees were told to go home yesterday and other state offices were placed under a security lockdown (including mine).

Yesterday, I was standing downtown (near my apartment) talking to some of the officers. There have been minor "disturbances," but no rioting or looting...yet.
