That's odd that you chose to mention "perfect storm." I was thinking of that movie as well and thought, "wow, same scenario of the meeting of storms, except this time, it'll be over PA & NY, instead of out to sea. I just saw mention of "Frankenstorm." It could be the worst storm to hit the area since 1938. One thing's for sure - just in case, I'll pick up about 30 gallons of gas this weekend (I need to fill the tank in the tractor anyway.) If needed, it's easy to drain the tractor's gas. That'll keep the generator going for a few days - if it comes to that. It's really more of winter prep though - where I'm at (rural), I'm a lower priority for restoring power should we lose power.
And that's really the big problem right there. This is a rare enough occurrence that no one has a great deal of experience with it. Specifically there's a wide-open range for what the intensity will do once it combines with the front.Forecast tracks are shifting south further into Jersey away from NYC. They can't relax though, the models may not be able to handle all the factors as Sandy becomes extratropical.
fuck the shovel i have a snowblowerOh geez, Hey Anubis - get your shovel ready! I saw that we could end up with snow. I thought, "no big deal; it's almost November.
fuck the shovel i have a snowblower
bring it on
however slightly glad im driving back from VA today and not next week
Seeing reports on our local CT news saying landfall is still up in the air with 2 models showing either NJ or NYC/CT as landfall, with the meteoroligist saying it seems to be trending more towards the north. I'm just hoping enough trees fell last year that not enough stuff grew back to fall on the lines again this year. 10 days without power last year sucked.
today i was reading google news and one of the headlins read "hurricane sandy. The end of days?"

Won't have a good idea of where it's going to make landfall until Sunday.
