OK, now the worst rain is in Winchester and moving away.

NOVA seems to have avoided the heavy precipitation.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE ELSE!

You have for the moment. It has actually rained harder here today: 2-3" in the last 6 hours.

what does San Diego know about weather?

Nothing. They do know about earthquakes though.

P.S. I recently moved to San Diego. Before that, I lived in Louisiana for 18 years.

These two environments have given me sensitivity to when northerners whine about hurricanes and earthquakes.

It is hype. 50k != millions

OF COURSE THERE WILL BE POWER OUTAGES. THIS IS A HURRICANE GUYS.

You notherners and your thuper special snowflake hurricane.

Yeah, as I said, I've been through 3 hurricanes in FL. I lived in MN for 21 years having 2 tornadoes hit my home town. I was here for the 91 holloween blizzard (am back now) and I was in NYC for Irene and the year before for 3 18"+ snowfalls, including flying from O'Hare to LGA during the day-after Christmas blizzard (landing in LGA was fun!). I was also in the top of the Empire State Building when the East Coast blackout hit and was stuck in NYC without power for a few days.

I've seen quite a bit. I lived in NYC and know how fragile the infrastructure is. This isn't blown out of proportion. I wouldn't doubt over a million are without power by tomorrow morning. The NYC MSA is what, 8mm people in it? That's double LA's entire population. That's not even including most of NJ and the N/E.

You have no concept.

But see a snow flake and you cower like a scared child.

The fact that we're still hours away from stronger winds that will last for hours the number will be much greater and based on the vast area that will need area, some folks may have to wait a long time to get their power restored.

It's not such a big issue in the city but in Western MA, after Irene, it tooks several weeks for some people to get their power back b/c the Utility companies out there were so small and unprepared.

The number is now over 90K without power in MA.

No, was in Winsconsin for a while as well.

Californians go into their bunkers after a single drop of rain falls.

If it ever snowed heavily in Louisiana...I don't know what would happen. How would they get to work if they can't use their swamp boats?

60,000 in Connecticut and at least 200,000 in New York so far. New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware are going to be worse. It's probably going to be at least 2 million outages between Maryland and Maine by tomorrow morning.

Well I think this part of NE where I am is considered somerton. I realize this isnt much compared to what's in NJ.

Ah, I know where that is. I go past that stop on the train every day. Not too far from me at all, actually.

The winds have really picked up here in the middle of Queens. No flooding, nor is it expected. My dog's flippin' out, though

Just heard from someone that Philly is imposing a curfew; no one allowed out on the streets unless you work somewhere that gives you a CEAS card.

Yeah it was on the radio just as I was getting in. Can't believe my company would not close completely even though we could not do much with transactions coming in but post date them. So ridiculous its not like everyone lives on the premises there.

Lol mine is still open but only those close to it have to come in. I don't get why but that's what they want.
