Out here in CO, people freak out if there is more than 1/2' of snow on the ground.
That's just the transplants from Texas and California.

Heh, I remember living in NH when hurricane Bob hit. Out here in CO, people freak out if there is more than 1/2' of snow on the ground. (facepalm)
If we got a storm like this out here, Colorado Springs would likely become the Thunder Dome.
Looks super fake? That wave looks to be 30ft high and wouldn't make any sense, hurricane or not.
Doesn't matter though if the power lines to your complex go down.
Hehe... six inches of snow... I think two years ago 24" of snow fell in Omaha over the course of about 12-16 hours. Now that sucked paired with unbelievably low temperatures and high wind speeds. That's just the transplants from Texas and California.
Heard today the insurance industry expects the economic impact of the storm to be $10-$20 billion in damage, about half of that being insured losses.
I've lived here for nearly 20 years. I don't know a single person that freaks out at half a foot of snow. Most of the people here are very adaptable and self-sufficient.
Governor Chris Christie is chastising the AC Mayor for telling people to stay.

Not much happening in Northern Virginia. Just normal rain and some wind, a few big gusts, nothing that scares me like El Dorito did. They say it's supposed to get bad from 6 pm to tomorrow morning. It's nearly 6 pm and it's about the same as it was at 12 noon...
Best to wait till it's over. They had ridiculous damage estimates when hurricane Irene hit, and that hurricane fizzled out and wasn't anything close to what experts predicted it would be.
Damage estimates throughout the United States are estimated near $15.6 billion,[1] which made it the 5th costliest hurricane in United States history, only behind Hurricane Andrew of 1992, hurricanes Wilma and Katrina of 2005, and Hurricane Ike of 2008.
Well, he shut down the casinos, thats a lot of unessary bodies cleared out.
In Virginia its not bad. Many people had the day off but it was just a regular rain storm. Nothing special or life threatening.
Went to Arbys, got a chicken sammich for me, turkey sammich for mom, and that new beautiful peppermint shake. It was so pretty I almost didnt wanna drinkeat it. But I did. And it was glorious.
