Looks super fake? That wave looks to be 30ft high and wouldn't make any sense, hurricane or not.

Lake Huron and Lake Michigan freighter traffic has been pretty much shut down by 25-35ft waves and we are hundreds of miles away. they are saying 38ft tonight.

Good grief, people. This was never going to be a category 4 or 5 to begin with. That's been known and been said for days. It does poes a risk for low lying coastal areas that are susceptible to flooding (including parts of significantly populated areas such as NYC), as well as areas that will receive significant rain in a short amount of time (inland).

People expecting some apocylptic storm keep whining that it's disappointing. It wasn't going to be the end of the world, despite what your local news station told you. It doesn't mean it's not a serious storm.

My University canceled 3 days of classes and made us fill out a liability form to stay. In the several years I've been here, that's never happened. They specifically said they were predicting multiple days of power outages. Yeah... unless things start sucking a lot worse in the next few hours that's a no.

Just got out of a meeting. There's going to be scads of utility workers and equipment coming from all over the country. Probably 500 trucks alone between California and Oregon.

I don't believe you. I don't believe that someone who is enrolled at a university doesn't understand why you would plan for the worst case scenario in a situation like this.

I understand that just fine. I'm just saying we've had worse damage from non-hurricanes without anywhere near the hype. Planning for the worst-case is fine, making it out to be something it most likely isn't is another.

I should add they just canceled the 3rd day of classes a couple of hours ago, after the "meh"-ness of the storm in our area was pretty obvious. But hell, maybe I'll eat my words in a few hours.

Power just went out for about 10 seconds, then came back on. Flickered a couple of times since.

I would be too. Yet another overhyped story about a small storm. Certainly some people were affected, but instead of trying to scare everyone, they should have just warned people in areas near water.

They need to stop crying wolf.

Troll is jealous that he is not getting the storm or attention.

Maybe he will luck out and loose power.

Yahoo: FDNY responds to building collapse in NYC

Yet no link, and no information.

From the NYTimes steaming updates:
Two stories of the façade of a six-story apartment building at 92 Eighth Avenue in Chelsea collapsed around 6:20 p.m., the Fire Department said. No injuries were reported, and no one appears to be missing, a fire spokesman said.

Hopefully the PA closed the floodgates on the PATH system already.
