Why the outside plug? I'm a generator newb.

Instead of running extension cords all through the house you can set them up so all you do is plug a cord in to it, flip a switch near the power panel and it is then distributed all through the house. Obviously depending on the running and starting wattage you are going to want to flip the circuit breakers for the water heater and other stuff but a 7500+ you should be able to be comfortable for the most part tv and all.

My buddy is a lineman from Illinois, and he was sent out East with a crew that left Saturday morning. I think he said their destination was Syracuse, NY.

So far there is nothing happening here but a good breeze and a little rain.

I have a generator, the plug, and a second smaller box next to the main electrical panel. It came with the house, and I don't know how to use any of it. I could get the generator running, and connect it to the plug on the garage. No idea what to do with the switch and two electric panelos in the basement.
