I hope Manhattan stay closed for the day at least. Transit won't be back to normal for at least two days.

President Obama has declared NYC a lost cause, and has ordered the Army to seal its residents within the city borders. Kurt Russell was not available for comment.

--

In real news, President Obama has declared New York state a major disaster, opening up federal aid to the affected communities.

The government is also discussing measures of "negotiating" with sandy via Nuclear strike.
:awe:

But yea from what I heard going to work this morning:

7.3million w/o power. May be a week or 2 before they get it back.
14000+ flights cancelled
Flooded basements and tunnels up most the east coast
A few deaths already.

And the storm has now merged with a south moving cold front. This may not be a strong storm, but a strong flow of consistant rain is now expected to last a day or more now.

A lot of debris on the road in CT, but the highways were clear. Most of my friends still have no power, but ours came back on late last night. The wind was super crazy yesterday!

This storm was pretty tame around where I live. We didn't lose power, and the roads look clear.

Got some pretty strong winds in Portsmouth NH, but most everyone made it through unscathed. We planted a bunch of young trees about 2 months ago and 4 or 5 of them were uprooted. Hopefully they weren't damaged too much and can simply be replanted. They were several hundred dollars a pop. All in all though, I am thankful. Could have been much worse.

FWIW, I learned yesterday afternoon that driving on the highway with a 60+ MPH crosswind is not fun. Thank goodness there were very few cars on the road, as I am sure I would have been blown into one or two on a normal day.

Well....that was a pretty terrifying night on Long Island.

Power went out around 6. Electrical explosions and fires started shortly thereafter, went on throughout the night, didnt get much sleep. Felt like I was in a disaster movie...crazy.

Trees down everywhere, almost no one I know has power or heat. Lucky that I live inland and didnt get any flooding, a lot of my friends have it a lot worse.

Gonna party like its 1799 for the next few weeks.

You must be lying. Over in P&N we've determined that Sandy was a non-event :awe:

A few trees down on the side streets near my house, which is about a mile from Lake Ontario. Since we had winds out of the north last night, most of the damage is close to the lake. Never lost power though.

MTA has no timetable for service coming back on LIRR/Metro North/Subway. Saying damage is worse than anything they've ever experienced.

Here in Cincinnati, I woke up to the better part of 2" of snow. It's still snowing now. The commute this morning was pretty bad. Yeah, it's not devistating, but it's WAY too early for us to be getting snow. It was crazy windy last night, and rainy through most of the day yesterday.

They have to do extensive checks, especially the tunnels.

Hurricanes usually only do massive damage for a small area, relative to the huge area that the hurricane covers.

I love how people that can come in to work or work from home are expected to work but the rest on my team who can't they get a "holiday" so if I can't work from home then I'm expected to take a vacation day because I'm on a special team.
