We lost power around 3pm and won't get it back until sometime after the winds drop back down. A branch in the road also snapped a hanger under my car so i need to bring it into a shop thus week.

Northern VA here... still have power, just a lot of rain, pretty windy. It honestly doesn't feel that bad for now. NOVEC is showing majority of outages towards the west.. mostly in Gainesville area some more in Loudoun County

Reporting from Louisville, KY after being hit by Isaac many years ago with month long power outage. Strong winds, 30+ mph but nothing like Isaac.

Generator ready
Food plentiful
Water, not a problem
Ammo, not a problem
LP, not a problem - actually sitting outside in this wind with my propane heater
Firewood, plenty
NG fireplaces, 3 of them
High calorie candy? 20 pounds
Antenna to watch monday night football? not a problem
Alcohol...plentiful is an understatement
Come at me!

I'm in the Shenandoah Valley. Have water pushing in under my door, around door knob, under several windows, and in a switch plate in my basement. Guess I'll be doing some caulking after this passes by. Sucks having a house that faces due West.

ready for this shit

I prefer spirits, more bang, less space and no cooling required.

Not lying when I say I could go 6 months and not need to get any. Normally have a case of jack and a case of rum on hand at all times.

My wife asked me what I wanted for christmas. My answer was easy and simple - a professionally installed generator transfer switch to the panel with an outside plug...that's what I want from Santa.

Cars floating down Wall Street. Power cut all over the place in an effort to save power infrastructure. A few deaths reported. Facade of a building collapsed in NYC. Battery Park now at record levels. (reportedly, higher than what was necessary to flood parts of the subway system, though I've seen no reports of that.) http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2012/10/28/nyregion/hurricane-sandy.html?hp

Subway Bridge to Rockaways Underwater
The North Channel bridge, which takes the A train from Howard Beach, Queens, across the island of Broad Channel and into the Rockaways, was submerged by Jamaica Bay shortly before 7 p.m., a Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesman reported on Twitter.

My lights keep dimming I may lose power soon. Should heat some leftover food up in the microwave before I'm forced to reheat stuff on the stove.

Aw snap. Who leaves their car down there?

Also, game over, must nuke from orbit to be sure.

srsly, hurricane coming and you leave a car parked in a low lying area?

@Zeze, must be nice to be in a tall ass building. Are you still posting or did your power get cut? lol

What happens to the plumbing in these tall ass buildings during flood situations?
