Was hoping for a quadcore Q9450/Q9300 but this is tempting. My Abit IP35 Pro is just sitting here waiting to be assembled.

Fudzilla is reporting that they have heard Intel will not allow overclocking on Nehalem -
the mem controller is on the die and can be locked up.
I wont even give the link, since they are such a poor source.
Just something to think about, kind of makes biz sense.
After all, AMD is no longer competition and consumers are getting a much more powerful CPU when overclocked for no additional income to Intel.

Pardon my ignorance, but... if true, wouldn't that only mean RAM and CPU couldn't be as independently overclocked? I would -- perhaps naively -- still expect one could de-tune the RAM settings: e.g., increase all RAM clock-counts by, say, 30%), then run up the overall clock-rate by the that % (or more in order to OC the RAM). Really a topic for elsewhere, alas.

I don't really see how it's going to be all that different. Look at Hammer. Intel would have to purposefully lock it. And they don't need a new architecture for that.
