The "Order As Needed" box is why they will take your money now...the part can take as long as it takes (i.e. 6 months from now) for receipt in that price range, with no timeframe guarantee.
Edit: To be a little clearer, I expect that Intel will be shipping ~200k Conroes at launch, and the number will increase every month. After Dell, HP, etc... get their priority allotments, there should be ~10k chips left to be spread among all of the retailers. So if a retailer has an order in for 1000 chips (fairly modest order), they will most likely get 20-30 chips the first month, maybe 40-50 the second month, etc...
The common practice among retailers is to sell the small allotment they get for much higher prices as a special promotion chip, usually for ~20-40% higher than MSRP, until they start to get shipments at the 50% level or higher...
