Given that it's a European Space Agency probe, I'm ready for a spectacular failure.
The Cassini-Huygens mission is a cooperative project of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency.
So in other words, we built it, and they put their name on it?

the prime contractor for the probe was Alcatel Space
I guess it stings that it was built by a French company
It's confirmed! Huygens has successfully returned science data from Titan's surface. The probe's landing is the farthest touchdown for any human-built object to set land on another world.
A news briefing on Huygens' apparent success is underway and its thumbs-up all around for mission scientists and managers.
11:40: Huygens worked "beautifully" according to ESA Director-General Jean-Jacque Dordain.
"The morning was good, the afternoon is better," Dordain said. "We have a scientific success."
Descending through Titan was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and today?s achievement proves that our partnership with ESA was an excellent one,? says Alphonso Diaz, NASA Associate Administrator of Science.
The Cassini-Huygens mission is a cooperation between NASA, the European Space Agency and ASI, the Italian space agency. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), a division of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, is managing the mission for NASA?s Office of Space Science, Washington. JPL designed, developed and assembled the Cassini orbiter.
?The teamwork in Europe and the USA, between scientists, industry and agencies has been extraordinary and has set the foundation for today?s enormous success,? concludes Jean-Jacques Dordain.

Agreed. It seems people nowadays are becoming more and more self centered, and only concerned about things in their immediate area that affect them.
A probe lands on Titan? That is prett....oh wait...the Apprentice is on...
