There is not enough manufacturing capacity for high end chips.

I'm sure AMD could have made more. But I don't think AMD could have predicted that nVidia would not bother to produce much if anything.

They are competing for the same wafers anyway.

Until TSMC has more capacity or demand for other chips that aren't cards to play videogames goes down, I doubt that we will see an improvement.

Production is still catching up to demand for silicon. We're in a paradigm shift. This is a temporary hole in the market. A lot of demand and not much supply. It will be filled, like they always are, it's just takes longer with a product that is as complex and expensive to produce as GPU's.

We went through the same thing 10 or so years ago with SSD's. They were expensive and supply was low. The market filled this hole and now you can easily purchase 2TB or 4TB SSD's that are affordable, reliable, and fast. There were reports months ago that SSD pricing were going through the roof. Never happened because the market is satiated and manufacturers figured out how to stay ahead of supply.

Right now the issue with GPU's is that the two major players, nVidia and AMD are fabless. Compounding the issue is the fact that TSMC is really the only fab game in town. nVidia is making money hand over fist. This won't go on forever as someone always figures out a way to "get in on the action."

Also I would bet that most of the people going after this new generation of AMD and nVidia GPU's (and Battlemage) as well are finally seeing price/performance ratio good enough to upgrade. They don't HAVE to upgrade but as we know all too well it's so much fun to plug in a new CPU or GPU and get the immediate gratification of better performance. It's fun.

Now the people buying at outrageous prices from scalpers, I don't understand that. But eventually the market will flatten out.

The title of this thread is "hyped for the 9070XT". Coming in complaining about it not having 24GB of vRAM isn't a comment for this thread. There are other threads for that.

Probably whatever ASRock wants it to be.

So far I am loving the 5090 XT Taichi. Zero regrets. Super efficient, cool running. Looking forward to more FSR 4.x games.

No AMD for me. Newegg has all the $600 cards at $670-$740. I'm on a waiting list for a $750 5070Ti, if that doesn't work out I'll be looking at used or more likely skipping this gen.

You might get a $750 5070 this year, any 5070 Ti $750 for the foreseeable future is going to be hard to get. I'd be surprised if they honor old MSRP waiting lists, but hopefully you'll get lucky!

I wouldn't feel bad about it if I knew it was other people buying graphics cards for them to use.

But I wonder what percent are normal humans, bots or scalpers.
