Hyper 212+ issues (high temps)

I'm trying to install a hyper 212+ on a 2500k but the temps are always 40-45C at idle. No matter how much thermal paste I use it's always there. I tighten the screws down until I can't move them anymore with a couple fingers on the screwdriver. Anyone know why I'm having issues?
I've used a grain of rice size of TIM, spread it over the CPU, spread it over the heatsink, and put small lines between the lines on the heatsink and same issue everytime.

Hmmm... Doesnt seem that absurd man. Might be a tad high but...it kind of depends on some factors which you did not state. Sometimes people forget temps can depend on many different things. Is this overclocked high with high voltage? I could see that being very normal for a highly overclocked system with voltage increases in a hot area. A Hyper212+ is a good bang 4 buck air heatsink, but its not really meant for super crazy overclocks with voltage increases.

Overclocking, ambient temperature, where you live, how good of ventilation the case has, other components in the case, etc all affect temps.

With that said, I also run a hyper 212+ with a i5-2500k @ stock and my idle temps are about 33-36C. On another note, when I installed mine I did not screw the pins down that much at all, id be worried about the mobo if you really screw those down until you cant move them anymore.

To really give you an answer if its high or not, you kind of need to fill in the missing info you failed to provide.

40-45 is a bit high for the chip at idle with the CMH212 but not terrible. Here are some suggestions.

1. Do not try spreading! Just put rice grain sized drop on center of cpu and let heatsink pressure do the spreading by itself. It ends up being much better and even that way.

2. Adding more TIM does not mean better temps! In fact too much is bad.

3. When you remount your heatsink, make sure to wipe off all residue from last attempt on the cpu with some 70% alcohol and lint free cloth, or temps will suffer due to uneven surface contact.
