Hyper-threading will only increase gaming performance if a game is designed to use multiple CPU's. I would imagine if you were running a server while playing the game you'd get better performance with Hyper-threading than without.

I know this doesn't relate to gaming but can you have two DVD Shrink programs encoding and burning DVDs at the same time using HT? Do you lose much speed if you run two copies of application at once?

its not fair to play on the server machine

Running one instance of DVD Shrink, with HyperThreading on, will likely yield a significant performance increase.

Running two instances, each dedicated to a single cpu, will likely be slower overall than the first scenario.

Running two instances, each using both cpus, will yield a huge performance decrease.
