It's Martin Luther King Day, which means one thing: Republicans paying lip service to an activist who they clearly don't understand, and who would oppose everything they do if he was still alive.
For example, VP Pence laid a wreath at MLK's memorial, touting his dream of a country where all men are created equal. This is the same VP that wasted public money to make a showy objection to black men protesting racist police violence at football games.
Then there's Rep. Steve King, who's touting MLK but has endorsed racial profiling, touted the superiority of "Western civilization" and had a Confederate flag on his desk until a few months ago.
And of course, there's President Trump. Almost all presidents have done community service on MLK Day since it became official in tribute to the actual spirit of what MLK intended. Trump? Oh, hell no -- he's playing golf. All you get from him is a token retweet of the White House.
When do we get a broad base of Republicans who actually respect what MLK wanted instead of taking a massive dump on his memory?
