I'd blow $20 on penny slots, use a couple hundred on food, and go home with the rest of my money.

That's what I did last time I went to Vegas.

Well, what if a a guy had $2500, a trip to Vegas, etc., would you lose the money, or would you profit?
If profit, please explain how you would beat the house.
No hookers. Just put that in the thread title to make it interesting.
Wish I could take such a trip. This thought was spawned by a couple co-workers, I overheard talking.
hookers are not legal in vegas county, I would pay for my hotel and hold on to enough for food then bet the rest on black, regardless of the outcome I would spend the rest of my stay cheaply.
Incorrect.
There is no Vegas county.
Las Vegas is in Clark County.
Also, prostitution is illegal up in Reno and its county and one other county as well.
You can hop over to Pahrump (Nye county) for some legal action though (45-50 mile drive).
Can you recommend a hooker there?
According to Nevada state law, a counties population has to be under a certain number to have legal prostitution, so the counties that hold Vegas and Reno cant have it.
I recommend avoiding the brothels.
I am not ashamed to admit I did break down one winter and drove from my duty station in the Mojave Desert to a place in Beatty, I think it was called Angels Ladies.
Anywho, way too expensive and nasty girls. They wanted something like 400 bucks an hour plus tips for services rendered. Not worth it. If you're rich just buy a little hoochie-mamma/gold-digger. If you're poor you shouldn't even bother with the long desert drive out there.
You would probably do much better with a hi-class Vegas escort.
eros.com is the best bet.

I would play poker and profit because casino players are incredibly soft.

Take your $2500 and spin it on Red or Black in roulette... ~48% chance of winning.

That really is probably the best odds you will get in the casino.

Best odds in descending order:

1) Poker if you are an above average player
2) Blackjack if you count cards properly
3) Craps: put the minimum on the Pass or Come Line, max out the odds bet behind it on the next roll. Alternately, do the same thing on Don't Pass/Don't Come. All other bets in craps are for suckers.

I have been told that craps is OK if you know how to bet.

Blackjack is probably the best one assuming you count cards and the dealer doesnt shuffle too much.
There is a reason why the payout in Blackjack is so small: Casinos exist to make money.

Craps if you find a hot table.

I was at Bill's a couple weeks ago and this girl was throwing crazy hot, I think she was throwing for at least 1hr. Overheard one guy saying that she won him $1400 on one round. My gf and I tried to get on the table but it was full so we had to go to another one, worked out ok though since my gf was hot that night too, when we left the other players at our table tipped her about $50. I was playing conservatively so I didn't make much but I ended up with enough to cover my losses from the night before.

There's no such thing as a "hot table." That's almost as dumb as thinking you should bet on black on roulette because the sign says the last 8 hits were on black.

Oh yes there is. Craps is streaky and when it gets hot it gets SMOKING and you can turn 500 into 5000 in a matter of minutes.

I honestly think I would come out ahead a few grand. Everytime I've been to vegas I've walked away with 3-7 thousand of their money.

So, basically, we need to be looking for hot, streaky, smoking craps? Is this in the whorehouse or the Casino?

Take your $2500 bucks and buy some stock. You'll do way better than you would in Vegas.

I suppose I would just lose.
Don't gamble, Don't drink, & couldn't do anything with a hooker anyway.
I would lose the cost of the ticket home.
Or, at best, a couple nights stay sampling the local eateries first!

Vegas is all statistics. short term, you can win, but eventually you will lose! for every 100 dollars you bet, vegas makes $5 or so depending on the game.

way back, when the mirage was the nutts, i got all my credit cards together and cash advanced 10,000 dollars. went straight to the 100 min table. my heart was thumping so hard and fast as i sat at an open seat, "check change" and then it was on! all i have left is good memories =)

I agree. That's the only game I gamble on, and the only game I win at more times then I lose. I was at a craps table with Charles Barkley a couple years back and I was on a roll that seemed to have lasted forever. Eventually, I rolled out, but it was a great time having that big guy cheer me on.

I usually go to Vegas with $2K- $3K. I have come home a winner the past four trips.

I play poker when I go. I don't play craps/roulette/blackjack/etc. The only money the house makes with poker is the rake (usually $3 to $4 per hand) or tournament fees (usually ~10% of the buy in).

LOL

yes, poker is a skills game. i believe you control 85%of your destiny and the rest is chance. my friend is a professional poker player and he clears 20-30 thousand of tax free per month, every month. i think its a lttle less now because the competition got better and alot less money is flowing in.
