I had a similar thing play out with my car and my wife’s. I bought mine special order and when it came in there was a 2-3 inch scratch on the hood, refused to accept the car. The dealer was not sure what to do but promised me that he would have it fixed. I accepted his promise and told him I would be back to sign the papers taking ownership after he affected the repairs. He assured me that there will not be an issue and that I should just sigh the papers so that I could drive my new car off the lot today. I politely declined. 2 weeks later it was back from the "body shop" with a 5 inch square completely different, close, but different, colored spot on the hood where the scratch was. I just giggled and looked at the salesman, and said; really, this is fixed. I asked to speak to the manager and he didn’t see a problem with the repair. The owner however was not happy and within an hour I had my car like new. There was another car on the lot the same color. He had the service dept. swap hoods, good as new. Had I taken the car on day one, it would have never been fixed right.
My wife’s issue was different. We had hers in for an issue with the passenger seat airbag censor. It would think there was someone in the seat without the seatbelt on if a plugged in iPhone was placed on the seat.
If it was unplugged there was no issue. After getting the car back there was a hole in the drivers and rear passenger seats. They claimed it was our dog after asking if we had one, then said one of us had to have done it with something in our pocket. Neither my wife nor I ever sat in that seat. There was also an issue with scratches on the radio that you could clearly see an attempt to buff out was performed. A few calls to the corp HQ and 2 new seats were installed. The rear one is a tad loose, I need to fix it.
This should be something new car buyers should be told about. If it is not right don’t take the keys. Make sure it is fixed BEFORE driving off the lot.
