Awesome car for the price. It's the perfect car for us who usually have just a total of 3 people in the car. Has enough power, good 6 speed manual or automatic, heck what's not to like? Sure it might not appeal to the tuner crowd because of the engine tuning and stuff, but hey, no one gets it perfect the first time. I'm sure the car will be updated in the years to come.

Good for them! The coupe market seems to ebb and flow, and it's not clear this was well-timed, but it sounds like a really nice car for the money. Hyundai are kind of the Samsung of Korean cars - they've been able to successfully move from a low-end Korean brand you'd buy almost entirely due to cost, to being a viable competitor in the market. I don't think Hyundai is nearly as far along as Samsung in this respect (IMO Samsung today has become kind of like what Sony was in the '80s in terms of being a real market leader), but they're making great progress and I applaud them.

Doesn't that car have some kind of retarded 3 second fuel cut when you gun it? Until they fix that -- forget it. Or am I thinking of something else?

IIRC, that's the 3.8L version of this car when matched to the 6-speed manual. It's not a 3-second fuel cut, but it does limit the throttle/torque for a moment when shifting at redline. Something to do with Hyundai not feeling too confident about the manual gearbox being able to take the abuse and not kill them on warranty work.

I don't believe the 2.0T has that limitation, but if the aftermarket moves like I expect it to :

People will 'tune' or flash their 3.8L models to delete that limitation.

and

People with the 2.0T will hit ~300hp easily with mods.

As to the reliability of the 6-speed gearbox, guess we'll have to wait and see.

I thought it was the auto...? In any case, if they are doing that, I think we can already guess as to the gearbox's reliability.

Actually, it's not a 3 second fuel cut. As Arkaign, it reduces the amount of torque you get when hard shifting at redline. That said, how often do you shifting hard at redline, not including the days when you go to the track/autocross. Merging from the ramp to the highway, staying in 2nd and shifting hard into 3rd while continue to floor it would definitely put you over the speed limit.

As a result, the 2.0T's drivetrain winds up unpleasantly when you hammer the throttle pedal. In fact, this is far from a grip-it-and-rip-it kind of car. Between shifts, the engine rpm hangs up momentarily, so you have to shift more deliberately than you'd like in order to be smooth. Hyundai engineers report this is part of a strategy to keep from dumping a load of unspent hydrocarbons into the catalyst, thereby ensuring that the catalyst meets its required 100,000-mile durability target.

Sounds like they gave it a little of what Subaru gave the 08 WRX, got a little couch potato in ya?

Seriously, give the crappy engine to the base and premium cars but give the track versions something decent please.

I'd much rather have the mustang GT for that price. No question about it. $27k is way too much for that car. If it was $22k I'd shut up. 92mph is terrible for 210hp.

They changed the 3 sec to 1sec I think with an ECU change, MT got 5.5 0-60 in the V6 with the ECU issue, they need to retest with it fixed.

Also people are getting 2.0 Track for 26k not 27.6k they have listed.

Does the Mustang offer the interior quality of the Genesis Coupe? I doubt it. You'll probably consider me biased, but I never liked the interior of American cars. From the pictures of the Hyundai, the interior seems to be a lot better than that of the Mustang.

Plus, don't forget that the base Genesis Coupe could be had for around $22k.

I think they retested the vehicle already with the new ECU. Keep in mind that Inside Line tests their cars different compared to R&T, C&D, etc. Or at least that's what some of the comments seem to say when others are pointing out that the Genesis Coupe that IL got was slower in the acceleration times.
