I like the look of the new Maxima, the headlight is daring and bold...not too many automakers would do it. Also, the sharp creases over the fenders provide a nice styling element similar to the new Volvo S80. And I've always like the recessed hood line like its sportier brother, the Infiniti G35.
However, given that exhaust placement, AWD doesn't seem too likely. I'd be guessing VQ engine with CVT. Another abomination of torque steer with a fundamentally flawed design. Nissan could have even used a FWD-biased clutch patch arrangement if they didn't want to go with a dedicated RWD platform (which would probably affect Infiniti sales).
Or how about an "SRT-type" Maxima (think Charger SRT8 or Pontiac G8 GT).....$35k, 400+hp, AWD, DSG, 5-seat Sedan!!! The Japanese big 3 are the only ones that don't have one so far. Nissan could market it as a GTR for the family man. It would have a negligible affect on Infiniti sales, and is a far better strategy than that rumored GTR SUV that is floating around.
