Yes, I believe it'll be RWD. Also 3.8-L V6 engine producing more than 300hp starting at $25k. There will also be a 2.0Liter 4cylinder 215hp model starting from $19.9k.

Hmmm...like the styling of the Genesis coupe, but it's really unfortunate that the 4.6L, 375HP V8 is reserved for the sedan only (according to Edmunds). 300 HP is still quite respectable though, and might make some people think twice about spending much more for a G37 or the like.

Genesis looks like a cross between the Eclipse & G37. Styling is definitely bland.

Maxima looks 100X better than the current gen. Is it ready to compete with the Avalon/Lucerne now?

The Genesis is inoffensive, but derivative. I remember when the 350Z came out and I looked at the front and said wow that's beautiful. The Genisis front and rear look like altogether different cars, they just don't mesh somehow.

The Maxima is loud and ugly. I mean just look at this:

and This:

Chris Bangle couldn't do worse if he literally just took a shit, scanned it into a cad program and turned it into a car design.

At least the Genesis coupe looks better than the current Tiburon. I don't know why they felt the need to dip that rear window down like that. If it's priced right it will do fine. Doesn't make me want one though.

The Maxima has not gotten back to looking as good as earlier generations, but it does look better than the current one. It's definitely not going to live up to the old 4 door sports car tag-line.

Weird headlights. Weird grill. The hood's front edge should go across the top of the grill. The sharp edges along the hood leading to the a-pillars look like they don't really lead to anything and don't serve any purpose.

Neither one looks good enough to get my money.

the 2003 max remains the best looking one.

the rear of this new one is a little bit bangled. why the hell did mercedes, toyota and now nissan decide to bangle the trunks after everyone decided they were ugly?

bit of an infiniti swoop in the hood styling of the maxima, looks weird with the scion tc grille.

I like the look of the new Maxima, the headlight is daring and bold...not too many automakers would do it. Also, the sharp creases over the fenders provide a nice styling element similar to the new Volvo S80. And I've always like the recessed hood line like its sportier brother, the Infiniti G35.

However, given that exhaust placement, AWD doesn't seem too likely. I'd be guessing VQ engine with CVT. Another abomination of torque steer with a fundamentally flawed design. Nissan could have even used a FWD-biased clutch patch arrangement if they didn't want to go with a dedicated RWD platform (which would probably affect Infiniti sales).

Or how about an "SRT-type" Maxima (think Charger SRT8 or Pontiac G8 GT).....$35k, 400+hp, AWD, DSG, 5-seat Sedan!!! The Japanese big 3 are the only ones that don't have one so far. Nissan could market it as a GTR for the family man. It would have a negligible affect on Infiniti sales, and is a far better strategy than that rumored GTR SUV that is floating around.

For all the talk about the Genesis being aimed at the Mustang, it is clear they are focused on the G37. I don't think it is amazing looking but it looks good enough.

The Maxima is the most extreme example yet of Nissan's ongoing internal competition to design the least attractive car of all time. They need to just fire EVERYONE in that company except for the people who designed the G-series. How can the G look so good and everything else the company touches look like somebody's hand slipped and they ran out of erasers?

I like this style Maxima the best.

The Genesis looks nice, but I don't think I can bring myself to paying more than $25K for a Hyundai; not yet at least.
