Toyota and Honda were POS when they first came along too.
Guess what ? THEY IMPROVED same as Hyundai today.
I always love condeming a car or whole company based on a onetime experience that may or may not be relevant at all later down the road.

Move on times change

That is exactly the condition the 50k 2003 Tiburon I was looking at was in.

Seriously... before anyone buys a Hyundai, try finding someone who's had one for more than a year and see what they think.

Friends don't let friends buy a Hyundai.

i know 2 people that own them. both of them are above 80k miles and no major trouble (just normel wear and tear).

i have read many reports that have them ranked very high. Times change and hyundai sure has. they are no longer the crappy paice of ****** that nobody wants.

80k miles is NOTHING. Talk to me when (IF) it hits 150k. 200k. Good luck.

I've had quite a few cars in my time, and NOTHING was a bigger piece of sh*t than my Hyundai, and NO ONE had as horrible customer service as Hyundai. Again, same goes for my neighbor.

Now you know 3 people who've had a Hyundai (four if you feel like including my neighbor).

Assume less. Listen more.

i have owned a bunch of cars myself. the biggest piece of ****** i have ever owned was a 2001 Honda Accord. I had a LOT of trouble with it from the transmission to brakes.

so i guess that makes honda's a paice of ****** also then eh? since you are going off the fact you had a ****** hyundai then its ok for me to go off my crappy honda.

also the resale values on used hyundai's while not great are getting better. more poeple are relizing that they are not the crap that was being built 6+ years ago.

do some research on them. almost all the reviews for the new ones are postive.

as you said. Assume less and listen (read) more.

You said so much but said so little....

First I'm critisized for mouthing off without having owned one (your assumption), now I'm critisized for speaking from my own experience as well as others).

Of course there's also the fact that Hyundai's have a bad quality reputation FOR A REASON. Stereotypes come from somewhere.

You've also failed to address the service issue. Have they completely turned that around in the 6 weeks it's been since I was last subjected to them? Please.

You're obviously hellbent on asslathering Hyundai, so have at it. Your $$$ loss. Why do I give a sh*t? You're as stubborn as the Honda people you previously slammed.

Yeah... speaking directly from my own experience is stubborn ... which is originally what you were looking for.

Ask questions before making assumptions next time and you won't get sacked with your pants down.

... still waiting to hear on the service.

I have no idea if it is or isnt typical of Hyundais...all I know is that was the condition of the car I was looking at.

2003 Tiburon V6, 60k miles.

AC was leaking. Also, the fan was a full power or all or nothing choice, the resistor was dead. The stereo had a cd stuck in it (to be fair, so did the toyota I eventually bought, but that was the ONLY thing wrong with it). The power locks were dying, they only worked half the time. The clutch had already been replaced at 30k! (Apparently typical of 03 tiburons) The suspension was ROCK HARD - it was like the springs were traded for bricks...could just be the way the thing was set up.

that article is outdated, the camry has since been redesigned, the accord has added more features and will be redesigned next year

it doesn't matter if it's outdated, the point still stays true- Accords and Camrys don't offer the same things for the same price as the Sonata. It's not like the Camry got $3k cheaper or anything... if anything, it got more expensive.

uhhh, the features, trim and even warranty coverage change every year, so the reviews need to be reevaluated. The redesigned camry added alot of features and some trims are actually slightly cheaper.

The new V6 camry absolutely slaughters the hyundai by every and any quantifiable measure. It does cost ~2K more, but that is actually a mere 10% more.

Which, as another poster mentioned, you will easily make up on the back end via higher resale value.

I have an '06 Tiburon GT. 4000+ miles is all the mileage we've put on it. So far = great car. No issues thus far and damn fun to drive. We talked to a few owners of recent model Tiburons (I still see very few on the road around here.) and they all raved about theirs. I'm 6'2" and had to get used to the Tiburon's small cockpit, headroom is very tight and I have to use a slightly reclined seating position to be comfortable.

We also have an '05 Sorento EX. 8000+ miles on it, and so far = great. Sturdy, comfortable SUV and capable offroad as well.

My wife's cousins both have '03 Sorento's and they have held up very well, and they still like them quite a bit. We started thinking about picking one up after seeing their's a couple years ago.

We'll see how they fare down the road, but we feel we got a great pair of well appointed auto's for "well" under $50K. I'm sold on the Korean vehicles at this point.

yup, but i think they overestimated people's ability to bump their budgets up by 25% (the cost of the toyota over the hyundai)

despite all the protesting of certain posters here, there is a quite a market for a midsized car with a V6 engine for $22K. it's why the hyundai has been selling so well. it's why the impala has been selling so well. i'm not exactly sure of fusion sales, but i honestly think that model is getting canibalized by people saying, 'well... i'll just take the mustang for a test drive while i'm here'

People seem to be forgetting Hyundai is offering about $3000 in rebates right now. When do Toyota and Honda ever offer rebates on their vehicles? The Sonata is much cheaper; it's a hell of a bargain.

A tricycle is a helluva deal, too, if you don't mind walking.

Honda and Toyota don't generally offer rebates on their cars because they don't need to. Car manufacturers offer rebates because they're not selling enough. I wonder why that is.

Wrong. Hyundai offers rebates to stimulate agressive growth.

2000 US Sales: 244,000
2005 US Sales: 455,000

And that's Hyundai only, not including the growth from the Kia division.

What were Honda, Toyota, and Nissan's 2000/2005 sales? They could have increased sales by 45% - 50%, but what about marketshare? What about repeat business? Repeat business for Hyundai is virtually non-existant... and there are excellent reasons as to why.

You can be right and still be wrong. They might have increased sales over 5 years, but that's solely because of price. Most people learn the hard way that you get what you pay for. Is the fact that they've increased sales - mainly due to very aggressive pricing - mean they're a "good buy"?

Hardly.

I paid $21k out-the-door for my top of the line Sonata. Hyundai dealers are ready to haggle with price where Toyota and Honda dealers seem to think they're doing YOU a favor selling you one of their cars. What kind of brand new Camry could I get for $21k out the door? [q/]

The article is over a year old. Both Toyota and Honda have updated those two models.

Once you repair cars for a livinig, you reall dont want to do it too much for your own car I guess. Notice how almost every lexus car except the GS places in the top 3 models per segment.

Hundai/Kia occupys 2 spots in the completely competition lacking sub compact area under the Toyota Echo. Dont tell me they are reliable I know better.
