Well, maybe i've been the special case. I ordered a video card, everything running smoothly, then i get an email saying it's on back order. I decide to wait cause it was a pretty good deal at the time. A month or something later, they decide to tell me that I can either continue to wait or cancel the order. I cancel the order. No Kidding here, SAME DAY as I recieved the email and cancelled the order, I get the video card via UPS. I told them to take it back as I've already got a card AND a better deal. They said "sure" but you're going to have to pay for shipping.

I argued and eventually won after yelling at a manager for 15 minutes or so. He said to fax him over the reciept for the shipping and they'd reimburse me. I did... the fax number was wrong. I scanned and emailed to their customer service. They claim they will reimburse me in up to 3 months. *sigh. I still haven't got my reimbursement for the shipping.

Ummm, no.... it's not just a prob with the mouse. My taskbar and everything on the screen keeps it's same orientation (ie. my computer icon is now turned on angle). Basically, I pivot but nothing happens with the image. if I could change windows resolution to 1024x1280 (intead of the reverse), I s'pose that'd fix it. but that's not an option of course.

Might want to check your video card options. I know on mine and some others I have seen you can selec the orientation between portrait and landscape

Dear Everyone Waiting for a Monitor,

I spoke with Ashley again. Apparantly there are three people who work the phones there, "Ashley, Latisha, and Trina" I immediately asked for a manager/supervisor. After a few minutes, I got Scott on the phone. He was VERY helpful. He didn't dilly dally or anything, he told me exactly what I wanted to hear.

New vendor trying to win some business from CompUsa. They do not have an electroic ordering system in place yet. CompUsa has been faxing over OUR orders to the new vendor. Vendor failed to recieve all of our orders (some got theirs, some did not). The realized there was a mistake, and re-faxed our order in on Friday. I've called so often they've flagged me for expedited service (piss on broken monitor and ship it to the jackhole). Status not being updated because usually it's done automatically via their electronic service. This vendor does not have it, so they are supposed to do it manually.

He's assured me that mine is shipping today or tomorrow. He would not offer any guarantees or anything to that like. He said call in on WED if I don't get an update to cancel the order. Oh, and he told me that customers that recieve the wrong item are SOL like bfulford7, as they will not have any extra in stock. So forget about exchanging it if you got bad pixels. Just send it back for refund and buy from somewhere else.

I think this might explain the low price associated with this monitor. Samsungs with pivot technology are shipped with Pivot Pro software from Portrait Displays.

http://www.portrait.com/

It's $40 to download... Perhaps some vid cards have this ability... BTW, I've watched key scenes from Two Towers... no ghosting and don't notice any twinkling.

To everyone that says their orders show open, I received mine on Friday (ordered 2-6) and my order shows still open with no tracking #. Zero updated info. Kind of unbelieveable isn't it. But that's CompUsa for you. The only way to find out if it's shipped is to talk with a CSR. The one I talked to on Friday emailed me my tracking number. Funny thing is I received the monitor 15 minutes after I hung up. The tracking number came later that evening.

By the way, this monitor is great. Worth every penny. I watched part of a DVD on it and I saw NO TWINKLING at all. The reviewer must have had a reject to review. The picture quality from the DVD is looks better than on my 32" Toshiba TV. Also at the 1280 x 1024 native resolution, the screen is much clearer than my Envision ever was. Whoever gets theirs won't be disappointed.

I wanted to get this monitor, but is it really as good as advertised?

Claiming that it responds at 8ms could be a marketing ploy, this just seems to be too good to be true for the price.

Also, i have not seen this monitor reviewed by any independent testers (other than user reviews) sd wendelers review has not impressed me into a purchase either.

I might just buy a quality CRT, these 19IN LCD's are pretty much in their infancy.

Here's an independent review. You'll see that this monitor got highest rating from these folks, but then didn't get mentioned in the conclusion. From what I understand, they reviewed this AFTER they did the full article.

http://behardware.com/articles/534/page1.html

Go to Page 4 for the Hyundai review. May want to considerr some of the others as well, but you won't get near this price for this feature set (ergonomics, response time, etc). I've downloaded the trial pivot pro software (which I believe is bundled with higher end samsungs) and it works fine with this. Question is whether it's worht the $40. Yeah, it's pretty nifty... but how often will I use? I'll know by the time the 30day trial is up.

I think the 8ms is over-hyped, too. but this is the same for every manufacturer. BTW, this panel is the same one that's in the new Samsung 915N (announced at CES just a couple of weeks ago). I've seen tests on 12ms and 16ms panels that show that avg response time is much higher, but they can hit a 16ms response time under certain conditions. Note also that in order to get this response time, you sacrifice viewing angles and (supposedly) color clarity. Notice that the BeHardware review has delta tracking of the colors and it does pretty well (same as samsung, obviously).

Regardless, i've seen no ghosting in fps... however, iit's not as good as a CRT (no LCD will be - CRTs have response times under 2ms.)

I did see the twinkling effect when booting up a vid game with black startup screen... it wasn't really noticeable, but I could see how a reviewer would have probs with it. I viewed Two Towers using this monitor and it looked good - no twinkling/zero ghosting. I tried to get to dark scenes to see black levels, twinkling, etc...everything looked great.

I tried to search for a review but couldn't find one. The link you provided was the first one i read on the monitor.

Look's good and since i am only willing to spend about 400 on a monitor,i just might get one of theses at newegg.

I am also looking at this Dell, they seem to be one step up on their rivals.

16ms, but overall, a nice LCD.

Spending more than 400 bucks on a LCD is risky.

If you want a quality LCD, we are talking about at least 15 hundred.

Dell came out with a 24 in screen for 1199 today.

I was about to pull the trigger on 17" ViewSonic (VP1712b-2) which has upgraded panel and pivot function. But realized that smaller size at same resolution meant a lot of squinting for someone who works looking at text on a monitor all @#4ing day. I opted to go for a 19" and started researching. Happened upon the L90D+ from comments here and found that review.

I haven't heard anything about the Dell you linked to. do a search on it in this forum, check out tom's hardware guide (http://www.tomshardware.com) and always check amazon.com, pricegrabber, newegg for user comments. I have read reviews on the 1905FP and heard that it's a great monitor. But pricetag is still 489, although Dell does run internet specials all the time.

*** EDIT ***

Yikes.. I did a search on the m/n at those sites and it didn't return good results. you should go to the Dell Support Forums, enter the m/n in the search field, and read what folks are posting about the monitor - on a dell owned website!

Wow..... with L90D+ 's starting to show up I decided to go check the front door as I rarely use the front door....... FedEx left a door tag... They couldn't leave it without a signature...... Looks like I'll have mine by Monday at the latest......

bad news.... today fedex tries to deliver to the side door entrance.....so all I got today was another door tag....he didn't even look at the front door where I left the signed door tag.....

good news.... I've run out of doors, so I should get something tomorrow......

Hey delslow.....do you have comp usa on speed dial or what.....

BTW, I re-ran my FPS and the twinkling effect I saw previously isn't there anymore. perhaps it was just an anomaly.

AAHHH got up this morning and guess what.. no RMA in my email. So looks like Ashley is going to be getting a phone call at 8am. A total waste of my time and tieing up $350, my wife is even having a cow about this and wont let me reorder until I get my refund. AHHH newegg, mwave, or chiefvalue from now on!

Had no idea how bad CompUSA was when I placed the order. In this day and age it's unbelievable that they would be using suppliers without an integrated inventory system. I sent them an email asking for an update yesterday. My order went in on 2/6 so they better not give me the run around on this.

If anyone else gets their monitor, please post order date and receipt date.

Thanks.

According to Tomshardware the Hyundai L90D+ gets our Editor's Choice award.
Go look for yourself 19" 8ms review.
The L90D+ is now their reference monitor!
Looks like peeps buying Hyundais are pretty smart!

Nessism,

I believe they do use vendors with inventory systems, it's just that for this case in particular, a NEW monitor supply vendor is trying to win CompUSA as its retailer. This vendor is not currently equipped with they system CompUSA uses. Or that is as far as I can tell.

BTW, no... I have not recieved the monitor yet, nor has my status been updated. =(

I ordered two L90D+'s from CompUSA 2/7 at about 3pm. My order is still marked as "Open".

After seeing that both NewEgg and CheifValue have the L90D+'s back in stock I decided to call up and cancel my order unless they told me that they'd been shipped already.

What a joke.

After sitting in the wait queue for only about 10 minutes I was told that they could put a request in to cancel my order, but it was no guarantee that the items wouldn't ship. On a whim I asked "Have they shipped?" and was put on hold for another 5 minutes and told that the LCD's had shipped and were scheduled to be delivered Wednesday. My next logical question: "Can I have a tracking number?" was answered with "Call back tomorrow and we can email you one". A very useful answer for an item that's supposed to be delivered tomorrow.

While the price was right, I must say that CompUSA just doesn't "get it". I suspect they'd turn white if they understood how much information was available to their customers about their inconsistent service, screw ups, and bad policies. Then again, maybe they just don't care...

I will not purchase anything else from CompUSA's online store, and will certainly think twice before walking into one of their storefronts again.

Oh, and in response to another poster's question about reviews of the L90D+ I offer the following link:

Too funny. Not 2 minutes after I hit submit on the last post my wife yelled down that my monitors had arrived.

I'm happy to report that they are both L90D+ versions and I have yet to notice any bad pixels. It was a HUGE relief to get two old 19" Dell CRT's off of my desk. These are so sweet, they make my whole office seem bigger!

CompUSA is still messed up, but they seemed to have stumbled through for a few of us anyways...
