I need a new 65” for around $1500. Gonna get at a box store near me because of gift cards. I’m a busy (lazy) guy and would like for you bright young men and women to give me a model buy. I’m not brand loyal, just want a good TV to last me as long as my last one. Thanks in advance!

Yep that TCL is a very good buy. Unless you're willing to spend $2k+ it's your best bet

TV’s never really seem to wear out now.

I got myself a 1080p Panasonic Plasma about 10 years ago. Damn thing will not die! I want a 4K upgrade, dang it!

As a note, if @Travis13 's "big box store" is Best Buy, you'll have to look for a slightly different model number. At Amazon, the model numbers usually end in '7' and at Best Buy, they'll end in '5'. So, that TV is the TCL 65R615. Back when I got my P605 from Best Buy (Amazon having the P607), the only difference was Amazon having a WiFi-based remote with theirs that feature Private Listening mode where Best Buy's model has a normal IR remote.

Good luck.

We got a Visio a few years ago, and when it works, it looks nice, but it's been a bit of a pile of crap since it randomly shuts down around once per week. Then, it needs to be unplugged for like an hour or so before it will turn on.

Ohh, and if you are a costco member and have costco near you, buy it from them for the double warranty ..

Wow you guys still watch tv? Did someone manage to invent an adblocker for that?
Yes

A TV is just like a big monitor. you can hook it up to a PC and game, or stick on netflix, youtube, or whatever you want.

I might sound like a hypocrite as ive done nothibg but watch tv for a month, but im on holiday at my moms in a foreign country and i havent got much else to do.

But short of this once, i have not watched tv since 2011 (and that was one similar situation), before that once again in 2005, and basically pulled the plug in 1998.

Tldr i havent watched tv in 20 years.

Now i live ad-free and im not going back.

having a TV does not require "watching television programming from a television programming provider."
It can be used as a monitor for just about anything.

I bet the OP wants to watch reruns of old commercials of Eagle Man.

I believe you, we took it to a TV repair shop and he was unable to recreate the problem. It works great 99.999% of the time then just shuts off and won't come back on. It's frustrating enough that I'm planning to replace it when I get around to it. (will be very very cheap on FS/FT when I do for anybody who wants to do local pickup if they think it's worth their time to fix)

OK OK so i been eyeing the TCL 65"'s and have been pretty much set on getting one too. BUT! i just saw the vizio P series and it looks even better then the TCL for little more.. Are they built as good as a TCL? i never had liked vizo in the past but am open to best TV for the money coming from 4k tv's already seeking something better but really dont want to spend more than 1300 would be good.

Is this the one to get? or will the TCL be better in a diff way?
