I <3 NBA 2k12

This is one of the best games I've played in a long time, at this point I absolutely suck at it, but man it's fun. Great graphics & animation with tight controls. Plays like a dream with my Xbox controller. I was iffy about getting it since I got hosed by Sega Sports with their last PC baseball game where my gamepad didn't work at all.

The intro to the game's bad ass too, a lot of random players on the court shooting to Curtis Blow's "Basketball" song. Every time I load the game I seem to watch the whole thing. I'm amazed that this is only $30, it has a ton of features and great presentation, the play by play's not the same 20 lines repeated over and over. It also has a big tutorial section to teach you how to play, there are so many buttons and controls to learn it's kinda overwhelming. I don't think you could just pick this game up and play. A shame EA doesn't want to port the killer new NBA Jams to the PC - I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

I was curious to find out that EA apparently doesn't even make NBA Live! any more, shows how out of the sport game loop I am.

I have this on my Steam wishlist right now. If I were to get it, it would be my first PC sports game. I've heard good things about it.

I got NBA 2k9, but haven't really bought it in the recent years, I was thinking about getting 2k12, but with the lockout year, there's no living rosters, so I would think 2k11 is the same.

I want Madden back for PC, I've been playing Madden 08 for the longest time.

With 2K11, the rookies were all from the 09 class (John Wall, Favors, etc), so I'd hope 2K12 would have '10 rookie / draft class.

I really enjoy 2K11 and have a ton of time into the addicting My Player mode. I've helped carry the Timberwolves to the finals against the Heat (yawn) and we're up 1-0 on our way to a world championship. Part of me wants to get 2K12, but I'll probably wait until I can get it cheap or wait for 2K13, if there is one.

I enjoyed 2k11 on pc, will pick up 2k12 when price drops. Also, patch typically comes out for PC later (last yr it was Feb) so another reason to wait.

They added a lot to the create mode and the replaying classic games thing, and unless I'm blind took out the dunk contest I don't think it's a super lot changed, but I never owned 2k11 so it wasn't a hard decision.

Dunk contest was damn hard anyway, fun but to complicated to really enjoy (for me anyway). 2k11 is addicting with friends no doubt about it, I'm sure 2k12 offers the same.

I haven't tried the game online, but when I was going through the menus it said that about 6k players were online, though the past 2K games I bought were unplayable online, even though the person I played against was only 20 minutes away from me.

Also some things about the game, when I did the dribbling drill, I had to pause the game because if I didn't I wouldn't be move at all. It's worth the $10 though.

It's still the best Madden to date.

If they made Madden for the PC now, we'd just get the turd that's been stinking it up on the PS3 and 360 for the last 5 years or so. No thanks!

My brother has this on his 360 and I liked playing it enough that I want to buy it. If I buy it for the PC, is this one of those games where Xbox and PC players can play against each other? I figure the PC is a direct port of the 360 version, so I thought this might be possible.

Is there really any differences between the 360/PS3 versions and the PC port?

I figure you're going to get much better graphics on the PC version and if you have a controller you won't be missing much on the control side. The community though with online play is something I'm not sure on. The only console game I own now is NCAA Football 12 and I play that alone building my crappy school into a dynasty.

I'm pretty sure console players and PC players can't play online with each other.

There probably isn't much different between the two versions, other than the control style. If you want you could probably plug an Xbox 360 controller into your PC and it will work with that.

Well, crap. I'm a PC gamer and my Xbox rarely gets turned on. I'd much rather spend $20 for the PC version than $60 for the 360 one, but I can't play my brother.

I doubt you can play against Xbox players. NBA 2K11 was the first one with Jordan's career highlights. 2K12 removes that stuff so 2K11 is still the better game if you're just getting it to play the Jordan content. 2K11 also has much better graphics, but that's subjective and your tastes may vary.

2K12, however, has awesome gameplay which is much, much improved over 2K11. First and foremost, you can actually run fast breaks now which you couldn't in 2K11 (ai teamates never cut to the basket or filled the lane on the break, which is a FATAL flaw in a bball game). In 2K12 the fast breaks are pretty damn good and usually exciting, with a little randomness thrown in which is perfect.

Love both games, wish 2K12 had 2K11's graphics and the Jordan content, but 2K12 is great in it's own right and overall the far better game due to the only thing that really matters - gameplay.

Playing right now, I'm on my way to a possible quadruple double against the 76'ers. Wade has a flame in his circle icon next to him, never seen that before. 14/16 on shots with 8 in a row 2 steals in a row too. And the last shot I just posterized some player with my nutts all in his face as I Tomahawk dunk'ed.

Google claims only 4 NBA players have ever gotten a quad double. That numbers about to be 5.

I got this game with the 2k bundle on a steam sale and gave it a try a while ago. The interface seemed very frustrating. Choosing any option seemed to lead to long annoying cinematics and I didn't enjoy having to be always online and having my information tracked whether I wanted it or not. I guess I'm just getting grouchy in my "old age".

Maybe I'll give it another try at some point. NBA Live on the SNES was really great.

For anyone who plays this, can I not play every game of a season? I'm in season mode for the 1st time and after 2 games I'm stuck. I see an option to advance days for ones I don't have a game. But when I got to the day of my 3rd game the only option I'm seeing is to simulate it. I would like to play my entire season manually but I don't know if that's possible

Are you playing in Assoication mode? (Dynasty mode in previous version) If so, do Simulate Through Day and it should give you an option to play the game.

I went to the 1st box on the left under the quick game option. I didn't see any other things outside of the legends mode. I guess I'll have to look at the menus more closely when I get home. Game seems to have a ton of options for how little help it gives you.
