I don't always look back after taking a bite into fruit or anything I'm eating so I'm sure I've probably eaten quite a few of these without realizing. Sometimes I feel something small and crunchy when eating fruit, it's probably crustified bugs. Considering all the crap that's in non fruit/vegetable foods, this is not exactly the worse thing to put in my body.

Exactly how much are strawberries in the north this time of the year?

I think it's like 5 bucks or something for a 1lb tray. Surprisingly not all that expensive considering it comes from California. You go up north to like Attawapiskat and food prices are ridiculous, like 3x what they're here.

It looked pretty crusty when I broke the strawberry to check out what kind of damage I was looking at here, and I can't see how it would survive the trip here. Staying in warehouses in the cold and such, being left in the fridge and so on.

That said it potentially could have laid eggs inside. That's probably what the black stuff was. Not visible in pic, but there was this black crusty stuff in it.

The cold isn't a problem for most insects, and the black stuff is probably frass, but crusty isn't a good sign for the poor little critter.
