At this point, I'd just play a bit loose and try to experience the game. Online websites are kind of like strategy guides, you shouldn't use them until you've beat the game once .

I do recommend a relatively easy class... depending on what you like to play as (caster or melee), your best options are probably warlock, priest or rogue. Maybe a hunter?

Realm wise.... doesn't really matter, although an older realm will have more people and possibly more to level with.

how true is it that you dont need a super fast pc to run this on?

I have a macbook with 2gb of memory and a Dell D600 with 768mb of memory

WoW doesn't require a super PC at all. Your PCs both sound fine, although 768mb of memory does sound a bit low. WoW is optimal with 1.5 or higher (because the application itself takes 500MB of memory).

WoW's very friendly to older / slower PCs.

Wear your thickest skin; most of the people playing this game are moderately retarded 12 year olds with anger management issues. Ignore them as best you can - there are groups of good people in the game. They're just rare, so you'll have to seek them out. Join a likeminded guild and turn off /yell and the chat channels.

I guess I'd probably recommend a druid. Druids are an absolute -blast- to play. With a form for every occasion they give you a little taste of everything; tanking, healing, melee dps and caster dps. A mount is optional, so if you can't get the 90 gold for it by level 40, no big deal. Mine is level 43 now, and while I have the gold for a mount I just haven't bothered, since travel form is so nice. I play alts of just about every class and the druid has gotta be my favorite.

But if another class sounds more appealing, feel free to try it out.

Get together with people and do the instances, they're a blast. No point in soloing in an MMORPG, play Obliviion for solo RPGing.

Heh, sometimes it's better to just ignore them or they never leave you alone in game . Unfortunately, most people that know me in the "RL" know that I can spout off talent builds, quest areas for certain levels off the top of my head, so they tend to bother me too often ~_~.

Sometimes I'd rather be WoWtarded... or I should just say "www.thottbot.com"

Coming from someone who actively raided in Death and Taxes, it is evil if you let it take over your life and play 5+ hours a day. That being said, WoW is a great game; when played in moderation.

Mmm for some people, that's what they enjoy and it requires quite a lot of time commitment. I'd say as long as they don't harm themselves, they're fine . I used to play quite a bit during the first year. At the first year anniversary, I had 120 days played on my rogue... 120/360 = 1/3, so 8 hours a day average... and I sure did hate people that told me that me not wanting to go to a bar or whatever was such a bad thing. I looked at it as a way to spend less money .

Playing 8 hrs a day is spending less money but WASTING YOUR HEALTH.

I'll translate: "I failed a semester because I played too much WoW. Being Asian, my parents will never let me forget it. Since I'm perfect, it was obviously not my fault. So it must be WoW's."

I failed 2 semesters last year right after I quit WoW. When I got back earlier this year, I got a 3.75 GPA in the Spring semester.

AFK AV Honor farming in WoW has substantially increased my studying abilities.

"I fail at life and I cannot manage my time properly and play WoW in moderation. So, I quit the game like a coward. BUT, I workout daily now and have daily sex with a girlfriend, which makes me way better than those who play WoW. Everyone who plays WoW is a loser (Including loving husbands/fathers who work 40 hours a week and play the game casually for 5-8 hours a week.)"

What? That's the usual story from most people about WoW. It comes down to personal responsibility. You can't blame crack, much less a video game, for lack of self control. They're inanimate things, they patently cannot be good or bad.

Me? I like the pussy! Rock on and live hard.

That's why I post on a tech forum. Live long and prosper. Stay virginal. Word.

Similar story here, I used to raid 3-5 nights a week, played normally the rest of the nights and graduated with a 3.59 or something like that. .01 points off of Magna Cum Laude Oh well, not like my employer would've cared if I had a 3.59 or a 3.6 .

People that blame WoW on their troubles are just as bad as the people that blame alcohol and such... well, kind of... WoW technically has nothing addictive actually physically existing like a drug might have.
