Well, not really, but damn, half my users are not receiving email (exchange and mercury are not cooperating) other half of my users can print, win2k and novell print server not coopearating. then, one of my users wants frontpage, when i just got her a copy of dream weaver 4.0.

then, i get an email saying "no matter what anyone else says, you are doing a great job".... so i am like, what the hell, someone talking about me??? what the hell, i break my back for this job. i am a student doing the job of a full time person, on 15 hours per week. grrrr



at least its friday, and everyone will go home early so i can work here alone till 10 or so.

I know how you feel, DAM. I did part-time IT work for a company while I was still in school (I'm a full-time IC for them now) and I got the same attitudes from people. I used to come in at night too... that way I never had to "deal" with the end users! In fact, I still do come in at night sometimes, but its usually when I need to work on the servers and don't have to worry about people needing their files or e-mail.

The good news is that you probably get paid pretty well. If not, demand more $$ for all the sh!t you have to put up with!

Your problem is that you are managing windows pcs.

Blech. That in itself is hell. Unix, oto, is much easier to manage. You just have to fix one computer when something breaks, not ALL of them.

poop has a point there, I think. When running X-Terminals you have only got to manage the server. If one of the terminals goes down, format the HD and put a fresh image on it.

Only problem is that FP and DW don't run on *NIX, well, DW might be ported to Linux, but FP? Maybe if cows start to fly and peace will reign the world...

ha ha ha, there is no way in hell we could ever switch over to *nix, my users are too depended on outlook 2k, pagemaker, wordperfect, visio, and pretty much every MS product. maybe when MS decides to ship out MSLinux.

Dam, I hate Mercury. It keeps going into routing loops like crazy here. I finally built an Exchange 5.5 server and threw mercury out the door. It's a good server for free. But can't beat Exchange

dude i really like mercury, really sturdy and had never crash on us, cant say the same for exchange. however since i am running email for students and staff, i am just moving all the staff to exchange and keeping the students with mercury.

the only thing i fear is giving the staff members such a powerful program like Outlook 2k.
