Beer, I actually took 3 shirts back yesterday. I even mentioned that I had read on the internet that others were having this problem as well.
The funny thing is that I talked to a sales associate when I entered and she even admitted that she had heard of the problem. She took the shirts to the manager and the manager didn't look very happy and then told me, 'No, I've never heard of this problem. This is probably caused by cologne or oil/dirt on your skin. Did you wash/dry them? You can't do that.' So I of course pointed out the tag and ended up getting them exchanged.
I'm going to try dry cleaning them to see if it makes a difference. Worst case scenario is that I'll just trash them and wear my J Crew/BR shirts instead. It's just hard to pass up $20 shirts.

I get my 1MX shirts dry cleaned(I have like 8 or 9) and I haven't had any problems yet.
Dry cleaned or laundered and pressed at a dry cleaners? If you're only payin $1 a shirt, you're not getting it dry cleaned, it's just getting laundered.
I've both ordered shirts from their catalog (Lands' End's, that is) and bought them at Sears...same great quality stuff. I machine wash cold, line/air dry. I'm average height (5'9") and skinny (130 lbs.). I wear a 32/16 shirt.[/quote]Originally posted by: jumpr
I like J.Crew too. I have a lot of their winterish, fall stuff.

What's wrong with washing stuff on cold and letting it hang dry? That's how I wash most of my stuff, exceipt maybe the whites. It's not like I go mud wrestling in my clothes so they don't get that dirty.

No. I'm not going to dry clean cotton shirts that I wear every day. The cheapest place around here is $3ish for a shirt, I have no clue where everyone else is getting the $.99 for dry cleaning from. That means I'd be spending $60 a month on dry cleaning which is just unacceptable. If it's a cotton shirt, it should be machine washable, period. They used cheap dyes, and obviously I'm on a budget since I'm buying $20 shirts in the first place.

Just the fact you shouldn't have to. If a shirt says 'tumble low' I should be able to throw it in low and expect it to have no significant effect in the quality of the clothing. These shirts failed that test.

Why wash on warm, unless they are dirty? And why use the dryer? Unless of course you use a laundromat, then lugging back wet clothes would be impractical. But if you do it at home it's no different if you hang them wet or dry.
