If you feel that your lack of influenced my have contributed to her actions then talk with her. If that is the case she may be thinking that marriage might be some type of replacement of you (depending on how close you guys were when you were young). Or maybe she is in love (love comes in many forms) so the best thing you can do is just support the fact that shes off. off on her own. My first thing i would do is talk to her. Not in any way intended but just a normal brother/sis conversation, no anger, no happiness.......

Just take the guy out back with a couple friends and give him a talkin to. Tell him if he hurts your sister that it won't be too good for his health. You just need to reach an understanding with him. Who cares if he is older or bigger, make him understand that the girl he is marrying have people watching out for her and he needs to treat her right.

My sister announced that she is planning on moving in with her boyfriend around August. If I wasn't 700 miles away I'd be up there this weekend to talk to him. He's been to visit my mom's house, but oddly enough, he arrived the day that school was scheduled to start back up for me so I didn't get to meet him and give him his talkin to.

My female cousins that have gotten married have all had my uncles approval to ask for permission to marry their daughters. I'm thinking that I'll probably do the same thing one day when the time comes. Has this guy asked your dad if it's alright to marry his daughter? That would be a step in the right direction and an indication that he has some respect.

Sit her down and make sure she knows that the decision is ultimately hers, that you are not trying to judge her or rule her life, but that you would like to tell her you are afraid she's making a mistake. What gives you the right to pre-judge and then threaten him to boot? How do you know how he will treat her? A lot of the men who are married to younger women treat them FAR better than do men who are their (the women's) age. That's straight from my wife ...
